The Vikings have reportedly lowered their asking price for Mewelde Moore from a third-round pick to a fourth-rounder.
Minnesota is in talks with Tampa, Houston, and Denver, all three of which could use an effective third-down back and potential return man. The Bucs were reported to have offered a sixth-round pick for Moore early this month. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/nfl...?urn=nfl,49168 |

I dont get that, especially with Henry getting more time to play. I thought Young was improving. I guess Mike Bells days are numbered?

Agreed. Just let it be.....if the ship sinks, then it sinks. It's not a big deal. It's just one year. DO NOT TRADE AWAY ONE OF OUR FOURTHS!!!!!!

It appears that, despite the desires of several folks here, the Broncos aren't in love with the idea of even giving Andre Hall a shot at returning kicks.....amazing.

I think he is good all around back. He would make our punt return better right off the bat.

Especially as the guy is a Free Agent at the end of the season ..... if the guy was the missing piece to a playoff or Super Bowl run, then I might be tempted to pull the trigger, but a 4th round draft pick can potentially help us to win games for years to come whereas Moore wouldnīt make much of a difference this season.

As to your question....we dont really have a whole lot behind Henry, but it doesnt really matter anyway. He's going to have to be replaced, and this would just be a short term bandage thing. We will need to make another investment again next summer, so why use up some of the resources now when in all likelihood we are not going anywhere this year and will need every resource available to fix the team? I'd like to take James Davis of Clemson in the 2nd round next year, he's a jackhammer and would be great in our system. We NEED both 4ths, BADLY. We dont have a 3rd remember. If someone is there that we really want we could package them to move up into the 3rd, or just use both 4ths since we have alot of problem areas anyway. Plus, as Jens also said, Moore is FA, so this is just a rental, which is even gayer. There is no need to waste one of our two fourths, or even one of the two fifths. I'm perfectly content with letting it play out, if we end up 6-10 instead of 8-8 it makes no real difference, plus we get a high pick which we can then trade down and acquire more picks with.

Might just be a leverage move to get the Bucs to bite.

This would be a stupid move. So my guess is Moore will be with the team by tomorrow.

That would be terrible. That guy is actually a decent run thumper.

Don't tell that to the "cut Ian Gold and get Lewis in there" crowd. I can't wait to see that meltdown if they cut Lewis. I can't see it happening, though. Their depth at LB is pretty thin as it is.

No one suggested Lewis start for Gold...Lewis is a Sam not a Will.

To me, Moore is basically a fit on any team in the league...besides maybe the true power running teams. Then, when you add in his other strengths, he seems to be a tremendous fit on this team. He's an excellent receiver, probably one of the best pass receiving backs in the league. He can actually run the ball (not a typical scatback-type). He's a legit returner. He's smart as hell. As far as the cost of the trade...well...I'd spend a 4th round pick on Mewelde Moore without thinking twice. Hell, he's an original 4th round pick who, IMO, has shown that he's worth more than that in the NFL. I think very highly of this guy, and would be very pleased if he was added to this backfield. Obviously, him being a pending FA makes any trade a little questionable, but you get first crack at a guy who's only 25 and really fits your roster. |
