Default "Our next weakside linebacker..."

His name: Landon Johnson, he's flying all over the place for the Bengals.

I know he got nicked up a couple of weeks ago against the Pats, but he is a free agent after this year, and alot of teams will be checking him out....

I'd rather spend FA money on a MLB then move DJ back to the Weak side. Overall would make the corps much stronger. DJ needs the space for his talents to be utilized.

Agreed jmz ... that's the best plan. Gold's gotta go. His presence has hamstrung the developmnt of our defensive lineup far too long. And in the long run his presence has hurt almost as much as losing Al Wilson. DJ could be a borderline-elite Will by now had he continued there after his rookie year.

completely agree, DJ needs to get back to what is natural for him...Gold has been in the way of that. Draft someone who is a natural mike.

People that are in favor of moving DJ back to the weakside because they want him to be a playmaker again, etc. are forgetting one major thing: the WLB in Bates' scheme is NOT supposed to be that guy. The WLB is supposed to be funneling the plays back to the middle and, as a result, the MLB is supposed to be the "playmaker."

Funny how the Gold haters were calling him selfish and "not playing within the scheme" just a short time ago, yet now they are clamoring for DJ to do that very thing.

Does not matter what the WLB assignments are in Bates system..... Gold does not work there. I do not care is DJ is playmaker in this _efence, He is not MLB material. Put him back to where he belongs or trade him for someone that is.

Whats funny is if the WLB is so insignifigant why do we as fans blame Gold for so much. I understand your logic but DJ is really just not MLB "playmaker" material in this system. You Need a mean dude who is smart yet nasty. Zach thomas was perfect.

This thread is hilarious. I wish they would move DJ back to WILL so this utter myth that he would be Derrick Brooks Jr. can be squashed once and for all. The same troubles that plague him at MLB/SSLB--play diagnosis, instincts, reacting to alignments, etc--will follow him whereever he goes, I'm afraid.

I dunno. He had a pretty decent year in is rookie/only season as a WILL.

Yea we need to move DJ back to WLB. He is a play making LB that can make plays in space, and we can sign or draft a thumper MLB, and get Boss Bailey to take hold of the SLB spot.

whoa whoa whoa, playmaking? In space? I've seen him totally whiff in space and I think he has a sack for each year he's been in the league... its even worse when you look at how many INT's he has... he's averaging .25 INT's for every season he's played.

He is a finesse LB for his size that has the speed to chase down plays. I agree that WILL seems to be the only position for him. Either he is there or he probably won't be with us for all that much longer.

I think SOCAL said he had a option on his contract after the season...

Peace.

I would rather move DJ to Will, and draft a Mike, and sign Lance Briggs.

All that DJ has proved so far into his career is that he is very athletic with no instincts and doesn't make playse.

Yea I dunno about Bailey I just thought it would be cool to have another Bailey on our team. Maybe for depth he would be good though, but he is very talented. Dansby would be nice though as SLB. But we need to draft a MLB and sign a SLB or draft a SLB and sign a MLB. Man I wish trotter was still there. Maybe we can trade Mike Bell for Trotter.

Trotter is a damaged goods over-the-hill temporary patch - just like Simeon Rice.

No thank you.
