This is not sour grapes thread.
I have seen 3 Chargers games this year and Merriman looks average w/o the Roids. There seemed to be a bunch of people calling him a cheater last year and a bunch of Charger fans here defending him. After the game yesterday I must say he looks average. 89 pushed him around. He was on real on the juice now, not so much....Guess I will have to jump on the he cheated side. (You could also say the same thing about Saubraun- )Last edited by Orange_Beard; 10-08-2007 at 07:00 PM.. |

Even Simms commented that Merriman didn't quite seem to be the same after the return from his suspension. Funny how that works. |

I don't know, "koos" got me interested in checking out what it was all about.
Merriman has made an example for all rookies to follow. Take the performance enhancers and earn your way to the league Defensive Rookie of the Year and only miss four games. |

I agree. I watched San Diego play the Packers and of course the Chiefs. Chad Clifton and Damion McIntosh both handled him pretty well.

If any of you have watched all of the Charger games this year, the thing that is driving the fans nuts is that Cottrell keeps dropping Merriman into coverage a great deal. Far more than Wade Phillips did last year. It would be like asking Champ Bailey to blitz half the snaps. Why take one of your best players and ask him to do something that he doesn't excel at?
He's still on pace for ten sacks. That's pretty good IMO considering what our defensive coordinator is doing with him. |

Could be the fact that they lost their D-coordinator and the new guy isn't putting him in a position to succeed. But it does feel better to say it must have been the roids.

It's funny. NFL Network did a small piece on him recently where he was talking about the "lights out" dance.
At least he can still do that. Looks just like an electrocuted chicken on acid. |

It's a combination of both... losing his defensive coordinator who was using him differently. And being off the juice.. he lost that edge he once had. He is still a good player..and I would take him on the Broncos any day.
