All the defense mechanisms are on display: deflection, denial, rationalization, minimalization, and the old standby, "Everybody's doing it!" All were learned in kindergarten.

I think the attention is richly deserved!!!

"That NE-Jets game in December is going to be something else. Forget the handshakes, they should do a patdown search of Belichick before he approaches mid-field, he might want to go "Last Boyscout." "

My guts aching.... oh man. I gotta look away and get something done today. What I don't know... but something.

The NFL Network just announced a new segment this season. Belicheck-cam. Watch as BB peers through his competition to see what moves them...

The funny thing is that it's getting blown WAY out of proportion. This isn't Watergate. But the media has jumped on it, and it's taken off. And now the fans defensiveness is feeding the monster it's become.

Where's my popcorn?

My favorite quote so far:

"Question::

Is it "jumping off the bandwagon" to question why the Pats simply couldn't have put Mark Estrella in the stands, dressed as a civilian, with a small high-tech video camera?

Not to sound disloyal, or anything, but I'd be questioning my beloved country if it outfitted our brave troops in the mountains of Afghanistan with flashing neon U.S Flag Yarmulkes."

But it has striking parallels to Watergate.
Nixon was a slam dunk to beat McGovern and he cheated anyway.
The Pats were a slam dunk to beat the Jets and they cheated anyway.

All good points. I guess Watergate wasn't Watergate until it went through the press cycle.

Delicious little meltdown.

I love the attempts at justifying what happened.

"Everyone does it!" "They do it in baseball!" "The Dolphins did something just like this!" (but actually, NOTHING like it) "They didn't do anything with the tape for the Jets game!" (ignoring that his has likely been happening for years now)

****ing chowder-eating morons think their team is bulletproof. I'm going to enjoy seeing the pimpslapping that comes down Friday morning.

Those fans are in some serious denial. "The Patriots could never get a competitive advantage by doing this"
It's like they're trying to tell themselves they were just doing it for fun or something. Here's one quote
Quote:
If Mangini died tomorrow I wouldn't shed a teer.
What a classy organization and fan base.

I didn't think it was possible for me to hate the Patriots more that I did. But going to that link and reading what their "fans" are typing is laughable.

None of them can see why this is such a big deal.

This is like Russia obtaining our launch codes and using them against us.

As you can see the camera struck defensive coach mangini in the forearm bounced off and continued on through the playbook coming to rest in a gatorade cup in pristine condition.

They were discussing this issue on what used to be the Dan Patrick show today. Michael Wilbon made the point that because this is a New York vs. Boston thing, the NY Media has just blown it up. The Patriots are in the NFL what the Yankees are in the MLB, and New York fans hate it. Absolutely hate it. And hence, it's become this huge scandal. Wilbon even went as far as to say that if this was Denver vs. Oakland, nobody'd care. But because it's NY and Boston, it's turned into this monster.
