He sucked in the preseason. 3/4 of play in the preseason is enough to base an analysis.
We want Trotter!!! Discuss... |

DJ played OK today but our LineBackers are still in need of a big play guy. We need a true stud MLB IMO that would push this D over the edge. I'd lose Gold move DJ to SAM and sign a true MLB stud if in a perfect world.

DJ was okay... Gold misses more tackles than a $2.00 KC whore misses her teeth.

DJ played okay but still has a long way to go before I'm convinced. I never doubted his talent just his mental game and instincts.

If a sack and being in on a bunch of plays nets a C-, what does it take to get a B from you? 2 sacks and to be in on every play? lol...........just kidding homey. You are pretty rough though. I thought he had a good first day at MLB. I thought for the most part, the entire D had a decent day of it.

All he did was leqd the team in tackles and have a sack while the defense held Buffalo to 180 yards total offense. Jeeeezzzzz, some people here.

Williams was fine. Not bad, not great. It's a little early to gloat, either way.

Other than the sack, I thought he was invisible in the first half. It seemed that he came on strong starting near the end of the third quarter and throughout the rest of the game.

How can anyone say he was just OK? He led the team in tackles, had a great sack, was good in coverage and led a D that gave up 7 pts and under 200 yards...christ

Some people are just like that when it comes to him....not much you can do about it. It's cool, tho. He's just getting better and better, I am really excited to see what he does next week. Just keep working hard and studying, DJ.

I thought DJ played well today. He made some plays, but also had some problems getting through trash to make plays.
We overhauled the DL this off-season with Bates. I think we make an honest evaluation of our LB's after this season, and go through much of the same process and let Bates make some personnel decisions there. It wasn't feasabile to do it this year with the DL a more pressing concern. |

I am pleased at his progress..you can see he is working hard to improve. Granted, it was still just his first game and I am sure there will be ups and downs, but I am very encouraged. He is starting to show his athleticism alot out there. Popps is right to say that it is too early to gloat, and I probably should not be gloating as much as I am right now, that is a legitimate point he made, but I am happy with his progress. He looked pretty good, even though there are still some areas of his game that require further improvement. Anyway, good job for him this week, I hope he continues to get more comfortable with the position. We'll see what happens.

thought gold looked like crap DJ definately held his own I think as the season moves forward and the line gets better at holding guys up dj will get better at sorting through them as well. Webster is fun to watch but that is about it he would make a great backup. LB will be a need in the draft next year. it was good to see shoate out there making some plays did he take foxworths place or was there an injury I didnt know about?
thought the offence looked close some rookie mistakes by cutler (I really hate the shovel pass stuff) but we seemed to be able to move the ball at will. We could use a little more execution in the red zone but I am definately looking forward to next week to see this team jell even further. |

I think DJ is a guy that just needs to get zoned in. That sack really got him started on a very good day. He's kinda like Cutler where he needs to get involved early to get into that rhythem.
I hope he proves everybody wrong. It would be nice to have a stallwart in the middle and we can add parts around him. |

Williams had a pretty good game. He was definitely better than "average". He made the right reads for the most part and did a good job flying to his gap. I think as the front line settles, and as DJ learns to trust his instincts he'll be a good player for us. His growth between this game and the Browns is impressive and you can tell he's learning at a rapid pace. At the rate he's progressing, we'll probably have nothing to worry about. Ian Gold on the other hand...
