Default Crown Jim Bates - Cut Ian Gold NOW

What a great job of the defense! Bates has been having our guys playing in their back field all day. DJ is having a great game.

Ian Gold must go. He is a joke and can't tackle to save his life. I don't know what we're paying him for, but it's not playing defense.

I'm kinda with you on the Gold thing at the moment but I think our perception is coloured by one very bad play rather than consistently poor play.

But what about that Dooooomervill!! Boy is showing he's a player.

Finally we have a pass rush which is also nice to see....

On Bates? Probably.

On Gold? Not at all. He's picking up where he left off last season. Ian Gold sucks.

Try five bad plays. He's out of position half the time and the two times he had to keep his assignment he whiff's BIG. He played like this last year too.

1st half of 1st game. Chill.

He's not that bad. Besides, who is available that's better?

Slap and I don't agree much, but I'd have to say had Al Wilson not broke his neck, Ian Gold would have been gone. There were numerous reports from John Clayton to PFW which stated the teams displeasure with the linebacking performance last year even though according to Mediators rankings, they played well.

Ian Gold is extremely overrated.

Gold is having a poor game so far. I bet he makes a big play or two in the second half! Luckily, he is probably the only Bronco having a poor game (defensively) right now.

How bout Dre Bly in coverage (1-on-1) vs Lee Evans.

DJ has played well which is a sight for sore eyes!

Cutler had Javon open in the endzone on that INT. I think he realized that right as he threw the ball and ended up throwing between Walker and Stokley. I'm not worried about it one bit!

GO OSKIE SCORE!

I really liked the pressure we got today and the way the Defense held-up throughout most of the game. I didn't focus on Gold enough to see his misgivings but was impressed of course by Lynch, Champ, big Sam Adams, Dumerville and Simeon Rice.

Gold had an awful game in run support.

I didn't see any passes completed his way to TEs or RBs though so I guess it's not all bad.

But he did have a token one play where he made a tackle to stop the 1st down on a 3rd down play.

He immediately got up, pumped his fist and started pointing as if he had won the game single handedly.

Hopefully he can improve because the defense got better as the game progressed. The DL looked solid against the run with Adams in there and we saw better pass rush although they still have a long way to go.

Bly needs to learn how to tackle. That hug he was trying to give Lynch in the backfield was lame.

I haven't been been too down on Gold in his time here. But he really played poorly. He has played long enough to learn not to try and tackle a guy's shoulder pads.

He is all over the field though, so I will hold out hope that Bates will work on that with him as if he was a rookie, and hopefull we will some out stronger next week.

The D played very well, but all around the tackling wasn't too hot.

DJ sure showed some folks around here, he is for real.

looking at the box score, Gold had one tackle! wtf!
DJ, Champ and Webster lead the team with 6.
supprisingly, Lynch had 0 tackles 2 assist and one sack.

Yeah the haters got their asses handed to them today. It was nice to see. A team leading 9 tackles, including at least 2 for a loss that I saw, good in pass defense and a great drive killing sack. He's working real hard and you can see alot of improvement, I am very proud of his effort today. It was very good, especially on Buffalo's final drive, he had two real good plays against the run.

Where's Broncosoja?

Well, Marshawn is going to be a superstud, so that was a good test. He's the equal of the best backs in the league already.

Against a poor and young defence they only score 15 pts, a boat load yds, but a sliver more than 2 tds. Also the special teams...why not spike it instead of going for a bonehead fg...they got lucky, they should have spiked and then gone for the fg. The D showed A LOT of promise though. Too early to dump Gold yet.

MErlin, they had to have the field goal call on before the final completion, what if Javon comes up a yard short of the first down it's fourth down, a spike would have done no good. THat was outstanding coaching and discipline to get that FG. They could not have counted on getting the first down. It was the right call and a damn good one.
