Not to the same degree as Young and Hall. Bell impressed basically the entire TC last year. And he's now had one good rookie year under his belt. What has Young done other than have a good but meaningless game against scrubs.

The reality is that Denver has been searching for a runningback since Portis left. So much for Shanny and staff having a long and proven record. I see success as a long term event. I don't doubt them. Thus far, they haven't complained about Mike Bell...it's a rumor.

I guess based on the fact that Shannyand Turner have seen them play side by side for 3 months now and he says that Young is better.

They do know a little something about running backs you know.

funny, I've never heard any word from Shanny or Turner that Bell is being shopped, and the most recent depth chart has Bell ahead of Young on the depth chart.

Orange Mane Exclusive Update

Orange Mane sources have learned that the Broncos currently have 3 trade offers for Mike Bell. Our sources tell us that Shanahan has decided to put the decision in Mike Bell's lap. We've been told that Shanahan has spoken with Bell and laid his role out in the Broncos offense as a fullback who provides spot carries for a change of pace ("in essence," the Full Back role that Mike Anderson manned for so many years). We don't know at this time who the three teams are, nor do we know what the terms of the trade are. But it's been shared that the decision to depart from Denver has been put in Mike Bell's lap, leaving it up to him to decide what he thinks is best for him.

Also, we've been told that Shanny is very high on Young and Hall, as they provide better options in both the running game, but also on special teams.

Well if that's true, maybe the Broncos will get something good back. Need DT or LB not just a pick.......

I'm going to speculate:

Green Bay, Carolina, and the Bengals are the teams in pursuit.

That is all class on Shanny's part. No wonder Portis or Droughns or Anderson has only have only said great things about him.

Other players around the league will see this and see what kind of Oraganization the Broncos have.

Probably good guesses, Chris.

Grunge Bay has a couple of backup DTs who are showing promise....

Don't know what Carolina or the Bungles have.

Well, this will be an interesting test of Mike Bell's professed love of the Broncos. Will he be a team player, or go for possible glory? Stay tuned.

That summarized our running game all last year, don't get it done and you'll be replaced.

Mike Bell had 51 yards against the 49ers and 1 yard against the Cowboys and played in two preseason games this year, Hall had 52 yards in the last game. Again Selvin lit it up and looked great he deserves the #2 IMO, after that Sapp, Hall and Mike kind of fall together to me, no real love for any of them but Hall intrigues me more than Mike, if we can get any help on D please do it as he's not special.

Going into last season the running game was Tatum's to lose...period. He was supposed to be the man. I believe the coaching staff tried many media ploys and motivational techniques to get a rise out of Tatum, none of which worked. Mike Bell was all we were left with. Thankyou Shanny for bringing in Henry as I'd love to see a real running game again.
I'll agree with you that last year's run game was generally mediocre but I also know that in the Pitt game, I noticed there was absolutely no holes. Javon had the one long run on the reverse or that would've been like a 30 yd rushing day. The holes just weren't there and it's pretty hard for anyone to run for much when there are no holes and your name isn't Barry Sanders. I didn't watch all of the Dallas preseason game but Henry dropped to 2.5 YPC after having a great outing the first week, I'm not gonna say Henry dropped his play off as it was more likely our line's performance vs theirs. The arguement has been there for a long time about TD's personal responsibility vs the responsibility of the line when he was lighting up the world and I think the Line's just don't get enough credit.

As for the camp reports I was referencing, I was saying Mike Bell clearly outperformed Tatum last year in the preseason so I really don't think Shanny's promotion of Mike was a tactic to get Tatum playing better, he was just legitimately better at the time.

And Mike Bell played 3 of the 4 preseason games, just didn't play any HB the last time, he played FB. Selvin Young amassed a whopping 5 carries in the first two weeks and Hall didn't touch the ball until the 4th week. Still not enough performing for me to deem them more reliable than Bell.

PFT was reporting the same thing earlier today, so that's interesting. Considering that the teams are probably desparate for a running back, I hope it'll be something that can get us more impact than Mike can give us.

A fourth-rounder? HOT.

I agree, and I have strange feeling that many folks will regret this move before it over. I hope the best for the kid, because he is what you want you pro-players to be.

I'm cool with Mike as a #3 or #4 back or as a FB and I don't want him traded for a sixth round pick. That being said the same coaching staff that said he outperformed tatum and deserved the #1 slot last year are now saying this year he will be demoted due to better young talent. If we can get Defensive help now I would do it. I also saw the non hole opening Pittsburgh game and I never begrudged his 28 yard performance that day. Javon Walker won that game almost single handedly for us.

I think quite a few people are still waiting on someone to actually SAY Young or Hall are better than Mike Bell. We've heard both Hall and Young were #2 on the depth chart... but when it came out, Bell is 3, Hall 4, Young 5. That obviously doesn't mean anything and it would definitely be within Shanny to do that solely for the purpose of deception but until someone says that Young is 2 and more talented than Bell... exactly who's word are you taking for it?

UPDATE

We've learned that there are actually five teams involved for a conditional 5th - 7th round pick:

Indianapolis
Green Bay
Ravens
Rams
Atlanta

not bad considering the guy was a free agent ... perhaps indy would give us their 4th since it would be towards the bottom of the round ... i wouldn't help the ravens. my preference would an NFC team.

Mike Bell probably would have a longer and better career if he stayed in Denver and played fullback. He's probably looking to make more money and do more "flashy" things, though. We'll see what he chooses.
