Cargile is a suprise. He had an amazing preseason. He was making plays everywhere.

Agreed, his being cut raises serious questions as to why we ever had him on the roster in the first place and what the purpose of pre-season really is. He could hardly have done more to prove he deserved a spot.

Meanwhile, why the heck is Stephen Alexander still on this team?

I don't have a problem with Alexander being on the roster. We probably have the best TE talent in the league overall.

Cargile is a head scratcher though.

I'm glad they didn't cut Mike Bell. That would have been a joke.

Apparently I'm the only one who wasn't that impressed with Cargile. I don't get what the big deal with him is.

What does Alexander offer on the field that is better than any of the other 3 TEs?

I am kinda aggravated about all the TE's making it. How much longer is Leach going to steal a spot on this team? Someone else has to be able to long snap...they just have to. I know Myers is practicing it. This is getting really gay having him every year even though he is basically useless. I don't mind SA...Nate Jackson pisses me off, he always finds a way to stay there even though we all KNOW for a FACT it will never amount to anything in the regular season. IMO, I don't really care that he had a good camp, Cargile or KJ or Kennedy (or even Morgan in KR/PR alone) is more valuable to us than Nate Jackson. He isnt going to see the field barring a disaster.

None of the cuts were a big deal to me. The big deal to me is I hope we make a move or two to bolster our weak spots.

The only cut that caught me by suprise was KJ. But after watching the Cards game again Paul Smith was very where on sptm. and good in lead and iso plays.

I'm not protecting Nate Jackson. I feel he is an injury waiting to happen. Yes we know he can catch. He's a former WR. His blocking is bleh'. Shanahan loves him though and he keeps making the roster each year. Alexander is the perfect backup to Graham.

Yup. I was thinking theyd groom him to succeed NIck Ferguson.

I think Kyle Johnson will come back, though ... the team is probably working a deal with the Packers or Seahawks to unload a running back ... Sapp or Bell I should think. I'll bet they merely waived the guy that had the least chance of being picked up. We'll see. They might want to take a look at Cory Schlesinger.

I think Eslinger, Harris and Hackney are all practice squad guys.

I think Alexander offers a combination of blocking and receiving that shanny likes. That and hes a good locker room guy from what I read.

This is a pretty good observation. For one a lot of teams don't even carry a FB on the roster. Most teams that do use a FB already have the guy they want and don't carry 2. Most likely unless some team that uses the FB has an injury I don't see Kyle Johnson getting picked up. With teams like GB sniffing around our young RB's it's smart to hold onto them all for just a bit longer and see if we can shake something loose as far as a trade goes.

I used to say the same thing until I realized Leach is one of the first guys down the field on punts.

Alexander made the team again? I love the guy, but the reason we brought Graham in was his dual ability to block and catch...

I don't see David Terrell's name there...Did he get cut last round?

I'm disapointed by Kennedy(I was kind of rooting for him), and saddened by Eslinger(I'd been hoping he could replace Nails when the time came). I don't really care about the rest.

I'm surprised they cut Jimmy Kennedy since he fits the Bates profile. No Warren or Kennedy...Adams is our loan beheamoth now. Maybe they're planning on an early contribution from Thomas. I figured McKinley would bet the axe and he made it. Eslinger's no surprise...I predicted this before the preseason. KJ being gone tells me we're going to run a LOT of 2 TE formations and Graham can double there in lead blocking roles. No RB's cut...I like that. Hackey to the PS I guess...
