Default This run was bad ........Almost Killed myself

I was coming up on the big drop off in Utah, grossing 86 k pounds ( highway 191 N.Vernal ) got into 5 th gear , started down , jakes blaring , then my truck jumps put of gear ......with in 10 feet or so , I am doing 40 mph ,I finally get her into 7 th gear ... for those that dont know this road , they have 10 switchback curves 20 mph .... ( alot of truck wrecks on the big drop off ) My brakes are smoking , taching out at 2700 rpm ,come up to the first switchback , 30 MPH curve ,I took it at 40 MPH , I took the first 3 curves at 40 mph , then I knew I was going to be ok , the grade goes from 12% down to 5 % , got to the 5% and was able to get her under control .........

I had a b**** of a time getting down that hill in our minivan. The whole time, I was looking in the RV mirror to make sure some truck didn't eat me for lunch.

Driver killed in semi rollover on U.S. 191

The driver of the truck, a Texas man in his 40s, was killed when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle when his brakes slipped coming down the series of switchbacks north of Vernal.
08.AUG.07
A rollover on U.S. Highway 191 north of Vernal killed a Texas man on Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened just before 3:30 p.m. near milepost 368. Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Adam Ray reported a 46-year-old Texas man, Alfred Charles Hamm, was driving a 1997 conventional Freightliner pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with two and seven-eighths inch steel pipe.
The driver reportedly lost his brakes while he was traveling south down a steep slope and around a sharp turn. The semi struck a Jersey barrier on the right side. The barrier did not stop the semi from running off of the roadway and Ray reported Hamm lost control of his semi as it left the highway.
UHP reports indicated the semi traveled over the Jersey barrier landing on its right side. The semi then rolled over onto its top, where it came to a complete stop. Hamm receive fatal injuries before rescue workers could extricate him from the semi cab. There were no passengers in the Semi.
Highway 191 was closed until approximately 6 p.m. while crews worked to clear the scene. - Guest

^ I loved that show(BJ&the Bear) as a kid. It made me think I might want to be a trucker, but I'm not mechanically inclined so I'd have ended up being broken down all over the country
