Does that mean he wont plea or it'll be a no contest? And it makes sense to not admit to anything if they'll let him go no contest, that'll protect some of his reputation and it'll also protect him from prosecution in Virginia. It almost looked as if they were waiting for the admition to slap em with the dog killing charges.

With a plea he has to help the Govt on the case. that is part of the plea. if he is not going to admit it. i say throw the book at him. let this end.

I'm willing to be he's not gonna fare too well if he goes to trial... either way his life is over as he knew it. Now the question for him is does he try to take a chance that somehow he'll get off and save some of his reputation but risk spending the next 20+ years in prison... or does he concede all of his fame, money, and reputation in order to be a free man for the rest of his life... I know what I'd pick but with some of these guys... you never know where their priorities are at.

He has the Virginia charges to worry about, he can't admit to too much here or else he'll get 40 in state court. He has to watch out what he admits..thats all he is doing.

Who cares it's time to let him do his 12-18 months and be done with it. NFL will go by all the evidence not just what Vick pleads to. The comish already been lied to so he won't care Vick didn't have to admit certain things. The comish will probably feel he gambled and therefore needs a stiff suspension for that even though the feds didn't stick that to him. State charges pending though so who knows. Vick might not even begin serving for a couple more months so he will be incarcerated into next yr, then still have a years suspension or more waiting. I think the earliest Vick could return would be 2010. He misses 2007/2008 in prison, 2009 suspended so I think that is realistic.

He's probably going to admit to conspiracy charges. I'm pretty sure there will be some jail time with what ever plea that he takes, probably the reported 12-18 months.

whats interesting is I read that the conspiracy charge only carries a 1 yr sentence, so I'm not sure if that all he has to plead to. This whole report could be Vick propaganda, after all it's not the feds saying anything its vick attorney. Until we see what the statement of facts are (thats the document you sign when you plead) we won't know for sure. Who knows if Feds force Vick to admit to gambling he may pull his plea and still go to trial. At this point there are still a lot of ways it could go.

"Back in the day..."
That is a continuing effort to color the issues as a "cultural" issue and therefor all the crud is somewhat excusable, and is the basis of the "discrimination" BS some of the folks are pushing. That entire argument to me is patented crapola. I hope he spends 18 in the pokey and that he is banned for 2 years: one for dogfighting and one for interstate gambling..... Ron Mexico needs a cure....... |

Just more evidence that generally people don't understand what he's been charged with from the federal level...and why should they...news outlets report it as "Federal Dogfighting Charges"....which isn't exactly true. Further more...the gambling aspect is not NFL related at all, unless he signed his right to gamble away, I really don't see how the NFL can get him for that unless he was gambling on football.

I would assume there are clauses in the contract which cover ethical and unethical actions by the players. One of which would be to be involved in and gambling on illegal activities. As I said: I assume! Regarding the NFL's right to suspend and terminate his employment, I also assume they have take a hard look at the legal aspects of their actions. |

There are all kinds of illegal gambling out there that everybody does. Honestly, I don't think the NFL is going to want to go down that route. I mean if a player is playing poker, and the law says that they can't play poker...if they get caught...does that mean it's a 1 year ban for player X?

If somebody gets caught playing poker it probably won't make the news and I'm sure they have no problem looking the other way on something like that as long as they aren't backed into a corner in the national press. Vick is forcing them to take a stand on gambling because this got drug out in front of everyone. |
