You'll be lucky to see him play a third of that contract.

I'm ready...

...for some microwave popcorn!

I like those mini-bags. And I don't care what anyone says. That Orville Redenbacher makes some good popcorn. I like either the movie theater or the butter lovers.

Because if lovin' butter is wrong, I don't want to be right! Am I right? Can you hear me knocking?

At six years and 45 million, the average cost to the Chiefs is about 7 million a year. That ain't cap hell. It ain't even cap purgatory.

I guess there are worse things in the world than dying of exhaustion from running all over Denver's defense.

No problem. As long as you promise we'll facing Croyle over the next 6 years too. Pretty much cancels out anything that LJ can do.

You ready for Cutler over the next 10+.

Know what... in 1999, Broncos fans could have justifiably been on Chefs Planet posting this same type of crap. After all, at the time, TD was arguably the most feared/respected RB in the league... having been named the NFL's MVP after the '98 season and all. One unfortunate play early in the '99 season and his career was... for all intents and purposes... finished.

I'm glad LJ got his $$. The Chefs shouldn't have made him hold out.

After a season or two of running the ball about a 16 million times a game under Hermie, LJ will be lucky if he makes it through half of that contract.

I've been hearing two different views on LJ on the radio and tv, etc. throughout the day.

One thought is that the Chiefs got a steal on the LJ deal because many were expecting that he would get "more than LT money". IMO, he doesn't deserve more than LT but considering how salaries have gone up (i believe it's 35%) since 2004 when LT signed his deal, that's why many were expecting that he would get somewhere towards $23+ million guaranteed.

The other thought has been beaten to death around here. He's come off a very brutal season, breaking the record for carries in a season. He's a bit of a bigger back and doesn't shy away from contact so he's got a little wear and tear on him and people speculate that he may not last as long as some of the more prototypical type of running backs today.

While he's one of the best runners in the game today, he's not your complete back. He's pretty much a one dimensional back, though elite that one regard. Guys like LT, Westbrook, Bush and Jackson bring the extra dimension of the passing game that LJ doesn't. He doesn't bring the dimension of the return game like Bush does. He can't pass block like LT or some others can.

With those factors in mind, some people thought it was too much money to give him. I guess Carl Peterson thought so too (initially).

The thing I would be wary of as a Chiefs fan is how LJ is going to do this season. It's not a matter of him breaking down (this season). If he doesn't come into camp in great football shape, he could be looking at nagging injuries all year long. The Chiefs need to be wary of that or bring him along slowly at the start of the season.

But I think he has a couple to a few good years left in him but the Chiefs are rebuilding and I don't think he'll be able to last long enough or at least still be running at an elite level to see that rebuilding come together.

Too bad we don't have an Atwater II. Although then again, Okoye was a very intimidating RB whereas LJ isn't that intimidating, he's just damn good. So maybe not NN2 but close.

Wanna know how this will turn out for LJ? Just see the last RB Herm coached in NY.

Curtis Martin's career was cut short from the same philosophy Edwards is using now in KC.
