Default Anyone Know where Priest Holmes is? - Herm doesn't!

I find it funny that no one knows where Comeback man is for a GAME. Don't they do at least kangaroo fines for stuff like this? Doesn't a position coach at least count his guys and report to a coach prior to kick off?

http://www.kansascity.com/sports/chi...ry/238820.html

Considering he’s not working out with his teammates, Holmes hasn’t had many opportunities to be a vocal presence. He also didn’t help his cause when he skipped Thursday’s preseason game against Miami to return to his native San Antonio.

Holmes said Sunday that the Chiefs gave him permission to leave.

“Everything we do here with the Chiefs is excused,” he said.

Edwards, however, said he didn’t know Holmes had left town.

“I didn’t anticipate he was going home,” Edwards said. “I thought he was coming to the game. He went home to see his family. I told him when he came back to just tell me (next time) so I know where you’re at.”

http://www.kansascity.com/596/story/235682.html

Midway through the third quarter of Thursday’s NFL exhibition game at Arrowhead Stadium, long after I’d decided Larry Johnson had had another productive night, I asked Kansas City’s media-relations staff where was locker-room leader Priest Holmes.

“He’s here, but I haven’t seen him,” said Pete Moris.

“He’s here somewhere,” offered Bob Moore.

You might think I’m a little obsessed with Priest Holmes and his comeback. Maybe I am. I find it rather fascinating — the dishonesty of it, the attention it’s receiving on HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” his comments about taking some of Larry Johnson’s money.

There were no great developments during the Chiefs’ excruciatingly boring 11-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Trent Green looked old, kicker Justin Medlock looked like a mistake, Damon Huard looked like a backup, Brodie Croyle looked inexperienced and talented, and the Chiefs looked like a team that will struggle to score and fill the seats all season.

Oh, and Larry Johnson looked brilliant for continuing to hold out and demand more guaranteed money. Michael Bennett and Kolby Smith just aren’t the kind of threats that will relieve pressure on Kansas City’s struggling quarterbacks.

And Priest Holmes, the man who promised to be a leader, an inspiration to his young teammates, a symbol of man’s ability to overcome any obstacle, well, I still don’t know where he was Thursday.

Who cares? The guy isn't gonna make much of a difference at all. Besides, LJ is back in KC and is finishing his deal this week per 610 AM

hahahahahha.... add that to the fact that Michael ****ing Bennett is going to be their starting RB on opening day, and you have a 3 win team in the making.

I suppose you guys figure if you say it every week, eventually you may be right. Care to bump up the 2 week old "LJ/Chefs closing in on a deal" thread? I still laugh at Bob for saying last Monday or Tuesday that the contract was being finalized and LJ was going to be playing in last week's game.

This is the first time 610 AM has reported it. All they said before was that both sides were talking, but nothing was expected to happen for awhile

610 AM is reliable IMO. They got the McIntosh signing, Edwards signing, and Bowe signing announced before ESPN.

The only thing I have ever heard them mess up on was the Samari Rolle deal, but ESPN messed it up too. He passed a physical and was ready to sign, but got a last minute phone call from the Ravens for a lot more money.

The real point here is that the great Poo Baa Herm does not know or seem to care that a player is onsite or not.

Add to the apparent lack of communication between Herm and the FO and you have pure commedy.

My guess on all this:

Holmes returned to camp to force KC to release him from his contract so he can sign with a team closer to home (Houston/Dallas). KC restructered his contract so the salary cap burden they've carried for the last couple seasons has lessoned. I highly doubt Priest wants to play for the $800,000 he is scheduled to make. Witness his statement about taking the money if LJ doesn't want it.

Peterson/Herm was likely taken a little off-guard by Priest returning, but in order to save face and not imediately cut the team's all-time leading rusher, they allowed him to go through workouts under the guise of him getting into football shape. At the same time if it make LJ a little ansy so be it.

It's odd to me that if Carl/Herm were seriously considering Priest to be part of the team this season, him going home to Texas and miss a preseason game would be unacceptable, especially if you are don't tell the head coach.

So one last time. This is all a charade. Priest will never carry the football for the Chiefs again. Why they are letting this thing drag on is beyond my comprehension.

Guess the BBQ is better in Texas than the Arrowhead lot.

This whole Priest thing is an embarrassment. At least it looks like LJ will be along shortly to ravage your pathetic defense.

I told him when he came back to just tell me (next time) so I know where you’re at.”

I love this statement, to me it epitomizes Herm. He looks clueless everytime they pan to him on camera. What... oh my starting RB isn't here? well, gosh I hope he lets me know next time.

That actually was a blessing for the Chiefs because he's not been near the player they expected him to be and that's playing on the best defense in football.

Apparently you haven't read/heard any of Herm's quotes. This one epitomizes Herm.

"We aren't going to focus on who is not here. It's not my job to get any player here. It's my job to coach the players. I'm gonna worry about who's here and when the players who are missing come back, then I will give them a hug and tell them that it's time to go to work."

So essentially no one needs to worry about skipping out on a Practice or a game, they will get a hug when they get back?

What a joke, Everyone needs disipline, Screw hugs. I thought Dick Vermineel left KFC?

Again you can't comprehend so I will make this easier for you.

Herm can't get the players here. It's not his responsibility. That is up to Carl Peterson and Denny Thum.

FYI-Mortensen reports LJ deal expected to be done by wednesday
