Although they got a taste of some new competition during Monday's preseason opener in San Francisco, many of the Broncos were excited to be in Dallas to practice against the Cowboys rather than return home to continue pounding on each other.
Lynch said that even more important than getting to hit someone new was the opportunity to improve by seeing various looks from an entirely different offense. "I think it's good (because) going against your own offense, you see the same looks over and over. Believe me, (assistant head coach/quarterbacks) Mike Heimerdinger and Coach Shanahan come up with enough looks to keep us busy, but this league's about adjusting from week to week," Lynch said. "Seeing different schemes, going to San Francisco and now seeing the Cowboys, different wrinkles, different looks, and realizing that if you just play your fundamentals, things typically go well. But that's a process and guys have got to go through it, and with a new scheme we've got to go through that." Marshall said that while some of the older players weren't as excited about making the trek to Texas, he and some of the younger players were excited about their first trip to practice against another team. "This is my second year in the league and first time practicing against a team in preseason, so it's exciting," Marshall said. "Some of the vets are moping around, but for us young guys we're excited to be out here." Foxworth said going against the Cowboys increased the intensity at practice. "I think it's a great idea as far as getting more out of us for practice," Foxworth said. "Going against each other day after day, week after week is difficult. But getting out here, your competitive pride just won't allow you to put out anything but your best effort." Lynch said the upcoming preseason game against the Cowboys would be interesting considering the teams will have seen each other during practice beforehand. "This is where you rely on fundamentals and technique. They aren't showing their hand, we aren't showing our hand a whole lot I'm sure," Lynch said. "You run fairly basic things so it comes down to 'mano a mano' battles, who's going to play their techniques the best. Even more so when you scrimmage for two days because we've seen their plays, they've seen what we're running. So it's no secrets, it's just who's going to play the best and we're looking forward to it. This is good work for both sides." http://www.denverbroncos.com/page.ph...4&storyID=7055 |

It's good to practice against different schemes and methods, but im curious how much are you giving away to another team when your practicing side by side with them. Ok they both get the same info but doesn't that provide for more anticipation in certain areas...or does tape make any of that obsolete?
With "no secrets" its much more difficult to ambush your enemy, but hey I guess they don't call it the information age for nothing. |

I'd gladly give up a win to the 'boys for the chance to get our guys ready for the season. The opportunity to go against TO and Glenn would have been spectacular - too bad Glenn is hurt. Cowboys should be a decent team this year and I think it is highly motivating to see other superstars fighting for a job.
So do tell, does Brandon Marshall look anything like TO out there ![]() |

Vets don't like camp. Plain and simple. Many see it as a needed evil, but would prefer not to go at all. Young guys are out there trying to make there name. So I believe him that some of the vets are moping. It is hot as hell in Dallas this time of year. I spent a week on that side of the state last year and it was pretty bad. Humidity just smacks you in the face, even at 7 am.
