The top 8 are decided before the season even begins.

That doesnt mean that Bradford doesnt deserve the award more than any of those other guys, because if he finishes the season the same way he has started it, then he deserves it.

This thing keeps changing. Right now I'd have to say Matt Ryan is certainly in the mix. All in one game it appeared he had killed his Heisman candidacy and then got it all back in the 4th quarter. Dennis Dixon deserves some love too. Unless a non QB catches fire, it's hard to imagine a QB not winning it this year. (Not that a QB does not win it most years anyways)

Dorsey out of LSU should be in the mix, as he's probably the best college football player.

Default Your Top 5 Heisman List

You can make this who you think it should be or you can guess at who it likely will be.

1. Dennis Dixon
2. Darren McFadden
3. Matt Ryan
4. DeSean Jackson
5. Mike Hart

What do you got? I think McFadden moved way up there by setting an SEC record with 323 yards against South Carolina in his last home game. Prior to last night, USC was solid against the run too.

Im thinking Ryan fell...I would have had him at #1 going into this weekend.

I was thinking Jamaal Charles but I think what Mike Hart has done in how he has dealt with the adversity of the season and been a leader, I think that registers more than what Charles has done on the field.

Nice. If youre going to put two linemen on there though, you might as well put Jake Long on there and take Slaton "TD poacher" off.

Perhaps. But i see Slaten as a playmaker much like Jackson who you put in your Top 5. He isnt a power back like McFadden or Hart but he is fun to watch and can make plays.

Fair enough. Its just that Ive seen a lot of times where Devine or someone else would make a nice play to put them inside the 10 and its almost always Slaton who cleans up with the TD.

Maybe, i havent seen much of Slaten this year as opposed to last year so thats very possible. I dont think Slaten will even sniff the Heisman this year so i guess its a pretty moot pick anyway. lol

Man... its wide open this year. Here is who I think you'll see:

1. Dennis Dixon - Probably leading the hottest team in the nation right now. The ducks are on fire.
2. Darren McFadden - The only guy I truly think won't be affected by his record. He just punished South Carolina for 300yds rushing in a winning effort.
3. Jonathan Stewart - The guy does it all and takes all the pressure off the passing game in Oregon. He'll run, catch and return kicks. He's really had a great junior season.
4. Mike Hart - I know he's sat out a couple of games over the past few weeks but I think his look, stare, and confirmation that Michigan will beat Notre Dame to the media after they started out 0-2 set the tone for Michigan to climb back into the big 10 race. They haven't lost since and every time he plays, he hits 100yds rushing.
5. Tim Tebow - The gators are taking on some losses but this kid is learning how to throw. Pretty scary that he is only a sophomore. He probably won't win this season but he'll be back in 2008.

In the running:
* Steve Slaton - The guy is having another amazing season for WVA. He doesn't get the pub for some reason... location, conference, ect. He should be right up there though.

BTW, Jackson should be sliding down Heisman boards and draft boards alike. He is an amazing talent but sometimes he doesn't even show up.

I don't know if he is even the best WR on his team. From what i've seen Lavelle Hawkins in much better.

Okay, just a quick question. What do you guys think of OSU and some of their players and how they'll play at the next level. I'm an OSU homer and I want to hear some of the thoughts that folks from around the country share about the players and the team as a whole. I think OSU has some very good football players on this team that will be playing on Sundays in the next few years. Vernon Gholston, James Laurenitis (SP?), Malcolm Jenkins, Heyward, Kirk Barton, Chris Wells and Brian Robiskie all have NFL potential in my opinion, what are your thoughts concerning these players? I feel that if Chris Wells wasn't banged up every once and a while and got the carries that he deserved, he'd be in the heisman discussion.

My Top 5
1.Dennis Dixon
2. Darren McFadden
3. Glen Dorsey
4. Todd Reesing
5. Rashard Mendenhall

That's a crock because Dennis Dixon wasn't a top ten guy at the start of the season.

it has been far from a typical college football season, so Im going outside the box and choosing the best player in the country (isnt that what the Heisman award is for?) GLEN DORSEY LSU

The best player in the country is Darren McFadden. He had 206 yards on Ken Dorsey, and 4 TDs--3 rushing, 1 passing. He has 1,725 yards rushing this season, breaking the school’s single-season record he set last year during his Heisman campaign as runner-up to Adrian Peterson. The difference is that last year McFadden was on a nationally contending team. This team isn't as good after losing guys on defense like Jamaal Anderson and Chris Houston. However, McFadden has improved this season.

I'm not going to disagree, but I think you should point out the severity of Dorsey's injury. He clearly wasn't 100%. Pat White just gained himself a lot of votes tonight, but all things considered, I think you need to take a serious look at Tebow. I know that his statistics are inflated because he gets all of the goal line carries, but his numbers are phenomenal. I don't care what gators final record happens to be or that he is only a sophomore, he is just amazing. I think it is going to come down to McFadden or Tebow and I would be fine with either selection.

As much as I hate to say it, it's got to be Tebow. He's unstoppable.

I'll call it right now -- Tim Tebow will combine to run and throw for over 10 touchdowns next year versus Miami.

He's not going to win the Heisman but there's a chance Central Florida's Kevin Smith might have over 2500 yards rushing after the C-USA Championship Game.

Anyone else think that they might give it to DMC because he´s probably offski after this season?
