Default OT- campsite advice needed

Hello, and sorry for posting this in the main forum, but I don't usually look anywhere else. Please feel free to move this if necessary, but I see threads about movies in here so it should be ok right?

Can anyone give me some good tips on camping within 50-100 or so miles of Denver that is non-commercial (by commercial I mean places that anyone can find online or through a reservation system) and near water of some kind?

Nearly every single site that you can reserve is booked through August and I want to take a group up this weekend if at all possible.

I would like to be near a lake or a river for fishing, and I would prefer not to be near too many other people.

I am pretty savvy about getting around Colorado, but general directions and tips on how to get there would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks maners!

There are usually places available in Clear Creek Canyon above Clear Creek Reservoir 15 miles or so north of Buena Vista. Can fish Clear Creek, the reservoir, Arkansas River and Twin lakes is only a few miles away.

I camped this last weekend along the colorado trail. You can fish the south platte below the trail in waterton canyon or above the trail you can fish Strontia Springs Resevior. This requires that you carry all your gear in with you. You can park at the waterton canyon campground, but then either have to bike or hike about 8 miles to the area where camping is permitted. The last couple of miles are pretty hairy on a bike. I pulled a couple of trout out of the Marston Diversion in waterton canyon on saturday morning. PM me if you need more info.

You can check out down around Cheesman Lake or Wellington Lake. That's where I go when I want to get a camping trip in near Denver. Not too many people if you hike in off the main roads a bit...
