Default Ravens threaten Ed Reed with benching.

The Ravens have told Ed Reed to either play within their secondary schemes, or risk being benched this season.
To a guy who they just over a year ago handed a $44.4 million contract, that's quite a statement. However, the Ravens went back to the tape this offseason and saw how poorly Reed played in help coverage with Samari Rolle in 2006. "I play with instincts," Reed says. "I'm never going to change my game."

Wow, that's huge. Maybe a suprise trade if things don't change? I can't imagine that kind of money sitting on the bench for long.

Since we are talking about Ed Reed why not also add in the usual comment by many of how we should've drafted him instead of Lelie.

Yeah, I was about to say drafting Lelie has been upgraded from a big mistake to just a mistake.

We still should have drafted him instead of Lelie. This doesn't change that.

I couldn't disagree more. We needed a WR way more than we needed a safety.

Heck, I'd trade for Ed Reed then send him to the bench just so he stops killing us whenever we play the Ravens. Then, if he doesn't want to play our schemes, we can deal him for draft picks to some NFC team that's not on our schedule.

But if we trade House and Parsons, doesn't that accelerate the cap hit on their sigining bonuses? And can we afford that?

Uhm... I'm not sure this is a suprise. There've been quite a few articles written on how last year Reed played spectacularly poor, infact, was one of the worst safeties in the NFL.
