Broncos give permission to penalize unruly fans
By Bill Williamson The Broncos want their fans to have an enjoyable day at the stadium. So they are giving fans the opportunity to call a penalty on unruly spectators. Adding to the growing number of NFL teams making fan conduct a point of emphasis, the Broncos have mailed their season-ticket holders a reminder that promotes good behavior during games at Invesco Field at Mile High. "We want our fans to be good citizens of Bronco Country," said Mac Freeman, vice president of stadium operations. In the fliers mailed to season-ticket holders, the Broncos announced they will allow fans to send a text message - the number is 303-910-1867 - to report unruly fans. Security staff will promptly come to the seat area where a problem may be occurring. Fans will be reminded they can't throw potentially dangerous objects in the stands or onto the field, they can't instigate fights and they can't use inappropriate language. Season-ticket holders who have seats where problems originate are subject to losing their season-ticket privileges. "We don't have any big problems," Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said. "But we just want our fans to have as much fun as possible at our games." Freeman said one of the reasons the Broncos are emphasizing good fan behavior this season is because the team has listened to several season-ticket holders who have mentioned occasional issues in the stands. Freeman said fans told him there is a loss of "community" in the stands because some fans sell their tickets. But Freeman said statistically there have been fewer issues at Invesco Field since the team moved there from Mile High Stadium in 2001. http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_6521242 |

Al Davis will jump on board this initiative right away.
The Boeing heavy-duty engine production-line up here is just starting to manufacture a switchboard capable of handling the call volume for Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. They promise to have a working prototype by 2009. |

Oakland wont have many calls during their games as ALL of their fans are doing the devil's work on Sundays. All I know is that if they are going gun ho with fan conduct, dont sell your tickets to CBF1 or you are asking for ticket revocation.

1) John, I have my own season tickets, do not need yours or anyone elses. Never been asked to leave a stadium..... Not even a tailgate, Better work on my bad behavior 2) Bowlen/Freeman said they do not have as many issues at the new stadium with people selling tickets? I am calling BS. Between corporate ownership, out of state and ticket broker season ticket owners I would say that 25-40% of "fans" fall under that catagory. Add in the "old, bitter" fans who no longer cheer and ask people around them not to scream and the number of "Usesless fans increases. |

I assume they are talking about the number of instances of violent, unruly behavior at the new stadium compared to the old stadium.....not the number of people purely selling tickets to 3rd parties.

Define unruly.
Does standing and cheering count as unruly? Does screaming count as unruly? Maybe not to me, but it might to the ****ing prick sitting behind you. Therein lies the problem. |

I'm sure that blame will get shifted to Cutler, now. If people booed Elway in the early 90s, then you know damn well Culter will be booed. Just the part of the postion.

I know plenty of people that pay good money to act like a drunk dumbass at Bronco games...and by God I support their right to be a drunk dumbass at games...within reason of course. Stand, cheer, stomp, taunt, have fun. No fighting, spitting, throwing food on people, etc.

The worst experience I have had at a Bronco game was not with the fans, but with a couple of Oakland coaches. I can't remember their names, but one was Rusty something that used to coach ST. We were sitting right below the coaching box in old Mile High and they were hanging out of the box cursing all of the fans close by. It was a very cold night and they were throwing water (I hope) and coffee out of the box on us.

Well, my brother has season tickets in Houston and simply can not make it to every game. He is going to try to go to 4 games this year though, but sells the rest in a package. He is a die hard Bronco fan though and would love to go to every game. Maybe in a few more years when his business and his job are better off he will be able to.

77,000 excited football fans in a stadium......... They are going to need a couple hundred more yellow coats now........
"There is a dude in a orange pimp suit banging on the wall next to me" "There is a Broncos fan in the lower bowl who won't stop yelling raiders suck...His neighbors call him Nut...I want him removed" "There is an orange fro guy in the south stands who won't sit down" "There is a guy in a Mecklenburg jersey banging a cowbell and I can't hear my radio headset...Get rid of him now!!!" .............let the text wars begin. I remember games at Invesco before 2005 were kinda meh in terms of crowd noise. Then the San Diego home opener and BAM, it was absolutely crazy there. The Pats game was even better.
THe people next to my brother's tickets are some old folks who got upset whenever people stood up to watch the game. lol |
