Default How many people here wanted Tank Tyler?

I know Mediator was trying to calm you guys down when the Broncos passed on him. Well, guess what? He's right. I watched Tank very closely today and he was horrible. Not sure how your rookie DT is doing but Tank sucks so far.

One thing that always held Tank back at State was his work ethic. On top of that his stock rose from playing on a line with Manny Lawson, Mario Williams, and John McCargo (3 first round D-linemen). What he lacks in burst and speed he makes up for with Size and power. Hes incredibly strong but incredibly lazy and that is what keeps him down...

North Carolina linemen pan out. (Peppers, Ekubon, Greg Ellis, V. Holliday)

North Carolina State linemen don't. (crickets, even the first pick of last year, more crickets)

Don't know what that welcher said, but it sounds like really great news. It is even better when that ragyred feller speaks; he's a mullet homer with myoptic vision.

Sort of like Petersen......

I don't remember. I was so pissed about trading up for Moss and then taking another DE right after, I couldn't see straight.

It's still pretty early, Bob. Guys have to get adjusted to the scheme. Tank is more of a run stuffer than anything else. You shouldn't get too high or too low on any player that you see in camp, things change day by day.

Nice way to coach up the rookie reporter. Very kind of you to help the little people.

Yeah I know, I just haven't seen ANYTHING out of him yet. McBride has been much better.

Well considering Greg Ellis is a LB, Ekubon is not an impact player, and the fact its suprising to see vonnie Holliday still in football...Thats a great list (ill add Dre Bly to this list since were gonna talk D contributions)

But if you want to talk defense...

Lets not forget the fact that Mario Williams still has a few more years to prove himself (4.5 sacks isent that bad for a first year DE), the coaching staff in San Fran LOVE Manny Lawson Stephen Tulloch is the starting MLB in Tenn. in his second year, Terrance Holt has been a solid contributer for the Lions, and one of the best safteys in the game right not (Adrian Wilson) went to State...you seem to talking out of your ass...

P.S. Why did you list offensive starters? Phillip Rivers...Torry Holt...J-Co...huh...huh

I thought Tank would have been a decent selection for us at our second-rounder or our third-rounder, but he's really a boom or bust type player. I'm glad that we took Crowder and Harris though instead of him.

Tank lost his job as a junior after starting as a sophomore. Even thought the guy behind him was a very good player, that does not happen in college football. He was also suspended for having words with an officer of the law while intoxicated. Then, he made a whole bunch of scrub plays his senior year as the whole defense went to hell and quickly lost his draft stock as the game tape piled up. He was WORTHLESS at the senior bowl with poor OL playing against him and every other DL looking at least above average. In fact, ofter two days the coaches were really frustrated with his freelancing and not playing his gaps. That was sent to every NFL team.

That is not the resume of a first day pick with upside and talent to develop. I was shocked KC picked him, because he is not a cover two NT type either. He is a two gap plugger with limited mobility.

Okay Greg Ellis has been a DE his whole career he just recently switched and I wasn't really talking about present players. I was only talking about defensive linemen, heck If I wanted I could have dropped Lawrence Taylor on you. There is more I just can't think of off the top of my head from the mid 90's when the Heels produced linemen like Marcus Jones every year.

Oh and by the way, your baby blue smack is weak. I'm not even that big of a college football fan but since it looks as if your a woofy, how bout beating us once before calling out Carolina fans. Moo u has only beaten the Heels just once in like the past 5 basketball seasons, and they've lost 3 straight to Carolina in football. Thats including a 2-9 season, state sucks!

Defensive tackle is one of the positions that takes the longest to adjust to when making the change from college to pro.

And if it werent for other people taking his tests and doing his HW he wouldent have made it out of college...He was one of the worst "student" athletes I have ever seen.

Oh man I just got all riled up arguing about football...I love Rivalry and the game of football so arguing rivalries gets pretty passionate sometimes and I go off on tangents. I was just listing the majority of Defensive starters that played for NC State. No hard feelings I was just getting my football fix and using you as an avenue...sorry.
