Default Strahan in orange and blue

They were saying on NFL network last night that Strahan would be open to a trade and that his retirement is more due to Giants camp and I assume contending for a ring.

Our defensive line would look damn good with him on the strong side.

What kind of compensation do you think the Giants want?

I would be willing to trade Al and Thump for him. In seriousness he would be a nice addition but I dont see how we can afford him and dont want to give to much for him after we just 2 DE in the draft.

Screw the giants. Let them cut him and let him find his own home. If he really wants to go to a contender, he will look here. Strahan is one of the ONLY LDE's that is a complete player. In this system, he could challenge his own Sack record and immediately make this defense world class by himself. It all depends on what he really wants, a ring or money.

they did say that money was not a concern and that he by retiring is set to lose 4 million in pay and a percentage of his signing bonus, they made is sound as if money had nothing to do with it and that he wasnt "holding out" but more just does not want to play for the Giants anymore (i assume coughlin has a little to do with that)

Hell yes. He's had a couple down years, but Strahan is still one of the best DE's in the league when he's got his game on. He'd be a great mentor for Moss, Crowder, and Thomas as well. If there was a reasonable way to get this deal done, I'd say do it.

Get his arse down here. Give up a player and a pick, if necessary, IMO.

He's better than any DE on our roster currently.

Strahan still Receives Double teams on both Running and passing plays and can still get to tthe QB. He had a 90% stop rate on runs and only 1.2 yards per rushing play at him. His sack numbers were down last year, but he still had plaenty of Pressure on the QB. He is the perfect fit for this new Scheme, even with slightly diminished nembers. Plus, he can get spelled more here and remain fresh as the scheme rotates much more than the Giants do on the DL. Also, Giants new scheme is a Jimmy Johnson PHI heavy blitz type. It is a lot harder on the LDE as they take up blockers more than penetrate and beat their guy one on one.

For whatever reason, I think the guy just wants out of NY. He's pulling a bull**** move with them by annoucning right before TC that he's considering retirement, and then there was an article today that said Strahan is hurt that the giants are looking to move on without him and talking about replacements and fines. Well no ****. You do something like this without warning, and well, you catch people off-guard and can get some knee jerk reactions.

I'm betting if he goes to another team,it'll be with a NFC contending team, somewhere like the Saints or Cowboys, its his best shot at a superbowl and he manages to stay closer to the east cost...

This reeks of a 36 year old vet simply not wanting to go through a full training camp.

Listening to Sirius NFL last night and they said it IS about the money. If the GMen were to throw some cash at Strahan he would stop the retirement talk, but the Giants are not making any offers. This could just be speculation from the radio guys so who knows. I for one, would love to have him on our side, even if it is only for one year. Throw them an offer of a 4th or 5th rounder and see if they bite.

Basically what's going on is that the previous management/ownership regime promised to re-up his contract this off-season. A new crew is in now and they don't want to, believing that he only has a year or two left, so Strahan feels lied to (as I guess a decent number of the current guys were promoted from within) and pissed off.

I'm sure it doesn't help that they just aren't that good of a team. The Giants are supposedly pursuing Simeon Rice pretty heavily and he just got a clear bill of health from Dr. James Andrews. Doesn't look good for Strahan staying in NY.

Of course if he does leave I think he'll take the most money he can get regardless of where it is. He and his wife had a real messy divorce and it cost him tons of money. He's looking to get paid before his career comes to a close and he's left with very little of the millions he made as a superstar DE.

Here in NY on the radio Mara said the Giants will not renegotiate with him. I don't like the guy but if you could bring him in without costing an arm and a leg I wouldn't complain. The guy is a great player but he is not a leader(we already have a bunch of leaders so it wouldn't matter) and is always flappin his gums.

My odds of Strahan going to Denver: Slim and None
