I think it's a great idea. Once Americans get presented a bill for Bush's malfeasance, I'm sure impeachment will really get rolling along.

We do have the money. We just need to take it from somewhere else. Ending federal subsidies for the arts is a good place to start...

I see so instead of paying , we should take monies that was already promised to others ...... so a small part has to pay the price for other peoples screw ups .....

Why not line items for each deduction from one's paycheck that shows where your money is going to feed the maw of the State?
It would help everyone appreciate just how much entitlement programs and direct subsidy are really costing us. |

I never said "don't pay for it". In fact, I said "take the money from somewhere else". The government is bloated and it's past time to look and see where we are wasting money. The old joke about $500 for toilet seats would be funny if it wasn't so pathetically true...

--------------------------------------------------------------- Where Your Income Tax Money Really Goes FY 2008 Total Outlays (Federal Funds): $2,387 billion MILITARY: 51% and $1,228 billion NON-MILITARY: 49% and $1,159 billion ![]() HOW THESE FIGURES WERE DETERMINED Current military” includes Dept. of Defense ($585 billion), the military portion from other departments ($122 billion), and an unbudgetted estimate of supplemental appropriations ($20 billion). “Past military” represents veterans’ benefits plus 80% of the interest on the debt.* These figures are from an analysis of detailed tables in the “Analytical Perspectives” book of the Budget of the United States Government, Fiscal Year 2008. The figures are federal funds, which do not include trust funds — such as Social Security — that are raised and spent separately from income taxes. What you pay (or don’t pay) by April 17, 2007, goes to the federal funds portion of the budget. The government practice of combining trust and federal funds began during the Vietnam War, thus making the human needs portion of the budget seem larger and the military portion smaller. *Analysts differ on how much of the debt stems from the military; other groups estimate 50% to 60%. We use 80% because we believe if there had been no military spending most (if not all) of the national debt would have been eliminated. For further explanation, please see box at bottom of page. |

Well, I'm not fine with our military spending, it's way out of line. We could and should cut it in half at least. We need no standing armies to invade countries or to defend the U.S.

I think the Dems should pay for this war. Its their anti-war ralleys that are causing us to lose this war on terror. If they would stop being so damn yellow we could take off the gloves and take the fight to the enemy.

But they hate our freedoms. What would you rather fight them here then there. Besides the war phase of the Iraq mission has been over for years now. We are spreading the seeds of democracy around the globe while ridding ourselves of WMD. On to Iran I say. |

Fine, what the hell. Why not? Democrats are already moving on a multitude of tax increases, what's one more in the mix?
How about taxing every working citizen a $50 minimum/yr. now matter how little they make? |

If I had it my way I wouldnt pay my taxes at all. I never voted to go to any ****ing war. Let the ****ing top 2 percent who got the bush tax cut pay for this ****ing thing. They still support it.

"warresisters.org" is full of crap. They arbitrarily manipulate numbers to suit their "argument".
