Been working on a project and have come up with some of my favorite quotes from (and about) Broncos players. Wanted to share them and see if anyone had any of their own favorites that I may not have seen yet.
Favorites: John Elway: “Winning a championship makes me think we did something right.” “I’ve experienced the highest of highs and lowest of lows. I think to really appreciate anything you have to be at both ends of the spectrum.” Terrell Davis: “The one thing that scares me most is failing.” Mike Shanahan: “If you’re not improving … chances are you’re not going to win.” “It’s what you do on the field that counts.” “Darrent … was always upbeat … always had a smile … a fierce competitor … that wasn’t afraid of anything. The players knew right away that we had a football player.” Darrent Williams: “Here everything we do is at full speed, every play, all day.” John Lynch: “You have to practice good habits.” Shannon Sharpe: “I’ve got a better chance of winning the Kentucky Derby on the back of a donkey than they have of winning a Super Bowl with Kyle Boller.” “I didn’t graduate cum laude. I graduated “Thank you, Lawdy.” With my grades, I couldn’t have gotten into prison.” Pat Bowlen: “This one’s for John!” Other favorites: John Elway: “I think you learn better when things are done the hard way.” “I always believe there’s a reason why you go through everything.” “I want to be a cowboy in a western.” “I look at my career and it’s still hard for me to believe the way things turned out and how things happened. I’ve been so blessed.” “It’s all about putting the best team together – not just in the front office but the players on the field.” “You learn a lot more from the lows because it makes you pay attention to what you’re doing.” Terrell Davis: “You can be the best person in the league but if you don’t win championships, something’s missing.” Mike Shanahan: “You’ve got to take things day by day. If you worry about today, then you have a chance to be successful on Sunday.” Darrent Williams: “I know what I did wrong, I can do whatever it takes to correct it. I always try to make sure that I only make the same mistake once.” Steve Sabol (on Elway): “John Elway is the Rambo of the fourth quarter. He’s the master of the twilight rescue mission.” |

"They can have the AFC West...they can have the AFC West, we got this one, baby......we got this one"
- Keith Burns, in the lockerroom after the Broncos 14-10 victory over the Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round. January, 1998.

Didn't BigPlayShay say something to the effect of.........."We came to ArrowHead, ate their food, had their women, drank their wine, and now we are going home!" to a local news channel after this game?

I think it was Schlereth in the Broncos video that said "hows it going" to Elway at the bottom of the pile in one of the Super Bowls on a QB sneak, and Elway says to him " your an idiot".

Other favorite sports quotes (I'm not even going to put in Yogi Berra). Of course, John Madden made my list.
John Madden: “When your arm gets hit, the ball is not going to go where you want it to.” "Hey, the offensive linemen are the biggest guys on the field, they're bigger than everybody else, and that's what makes them the biggest guys on the field.” "Here's a guy who when he runs, he moves faster." "Usually, the team that scores the most points is going to win it" Harry Carey (on Hideo Nomo): "He's the biggest thing to hit Japan since they dropped that bomb on Nagashima!" Mike Tyson: "I can sell out Madison Square Garden masturbating." [To a female reporter] "It's no doubt I am going to win this fight and I feel confident about winning this fight. I normally don't do interviews with women unless I fornicate with them. So you shouldn't talk anymore... Unless you want to, you know." “I want to throw down your kid and stomp on his testicles, and then you will know what it is like to experience waking up everyday as me. And only then will you feel my pain.” Joe Theismann: “Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.” |

That was funny, but my "project" is based towards those who don't really have a knowledge of Broncos history - so the quote has to stand on it's own. Otherwise, I definitey would of included it!
