Default SI Ups and downs

Risers

Jay Cutler, QB, Broncos: It took some time for many to accept Cutler as being on par with Matt Leinart and Vince Young at last year's draft. The same goes in fantasy circles, although Cutler arguably has the best overall team around him, which could elevate him to a marginal No. 1 fantasy starter.

Brandon Marshall, WR, Broncos: Cutler needs more than Javon Walker, and Marshall is getting a lot of attention despite catching just 20 passes for 309 yards and two scores last year. However, the second-year player has shown some brilliance, and the veteran Rod Smith is on the wrong side of his career. He seems to be a classic upside guy.

On par?! Jay is better than both. People will see, come the end of week one. Jay and the Broncos are going to be off and running.

Graham is getting all the attention and will definitely cut into Tony's snaps, but I think this kid is going to be a monster this season, anyway. Don't take him off the field, Mike!

I agree with you that Scheff can have a moster year, but i worry that the extra weight he tried to add is going to hurt him.(although i am not sure if after the injury he decided to get back to the 250 weight he was last season.)

Mark it down, Sheff will be the second leading receiver.

There is no doubt you have a great one in the making in Sheff in my opinion. That guy looks solid. Smart with good hands and can mix it up. Of all the people on your team he scares me the most because our D's weakness is deep TE routes in the middle.

He will be in the pro-bowl with Gates.

I will be sitting back and watching...a HOF TE named Tony Gonzalez and an elite TE named Antonio Gates in the pro bowl

you are a huge homer if you think Scheffler will be in the pro bowl. Maybe in the NFC but not the AFC, especially this season. He has way too much competition. I would take Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates, Todd Heap, Heath Miller, Dallas Clark, Ben Watson, and Kellen Winslow over him. I think he can make it in time, but you are fooling yourselves if you think he is gonna be a pro bowler this year.

Why are you so jealous? Why don't you stay on the Mullets' boards? This is a Broncos' board, and it entirely permissible for the fans hereon to be homers if they choose.

Go suck and egg, or go get it on with Crazyho's tailpipe.....

I've always thought it was pathetic they need to validate their team to rival fans. They are sad, sad little people

What do you expect when their team has sucked for as long as it has? After awhile, sitting around telling each other "it's ok, we'll win a playoff game this year" loses effect and you have to tell it to other fans.

I have always been impressed by three raw attributes of Scheffler: his athleticism, his size, and his smarts.

He reminds me alot of Jay Novacek. Novacek was a fiery guy and Scheff is more laid back, but they have some of the same strengths.

Scheff is actually one of the more athletic young TE's in the NFL and has quite a high ceiling. I know that Cutler trusts him already, and that is a good sign for his future. I think that he'll produce.

I think he's got the tools to do everything Sharpe did. Even come from similar football backgrounds (small college WR's converted to TEs)

The injury to Scheff is obviously unfortunate but it will allow Graham to get even closer to Cutler and Cutler to Graham during the preseason. This is a good thing for everybody. Cutler already is comfortable with Scheff and will be there when he's physically ready.

I don't quite buy into Scheff quite the way you guys do, but I know that Graham and Scheff form the best TE duo in the league.

It's not so much that I buy into Scheff...its more that I buy into Cutler. Cutler trusts Scheff, and that cant be discounted. They have a repoire that has already translated from rookie camps to camp to preseason to regular season production. These guys will grow together and Scheff has already delivered for Cutler when Cutler struggled as a rookie. That chemistry is hard to find and wont go away any time soon.

Graham will have to be the guy that adapts. Scheff is already there.
