Sure it was.

Want to know why? People in country A can do what they like with their own customs regarding their own people.

People in country B have no say in such customs, regardless if they like it or not.

No one should have to toe any Islamic fundamentalist vision of society because of terrorism. That's catering to fear of retribution. The British, while far from perfect, have shown one thing over the course of history, they dont care what other nations think about them.

Rushdie, in Britain, deserved to be a Knight. As such, he was Knighted. **** Islamic fundamentalists that dont like it, or anyone else for that matter. They have no say in who Britain chooses to make a Knight, its BRITISH SOCIETY not Islamic Fundamentalism.

Terrorists may attack a nation for their beliefs, but that doesnt mean that Britain made the wrong choice. You cannot stop what you feel is right because you are scared of terrorism in retribution. Last I checked, England was a predominantly NON-MUSLIM nation and thus is bound by no law, governmental or religious, that says Rushdie is a bad person.

Well I would assume an attack is imminent. They already have diffused two car bombs and now this amature attack. Be prepared for the threat level around some of our major cities to go up as well. Just as a reactionary measure.

There was a film made about Rushdie in Pakistan. I thought this was hilarious.

I saw about 20 minutes of this film on a local television station in Iraq. It was so ridiculous that I tried to buy a copy. I don't consider myself a racist, but having spent significant time in the middle east and seeing things like this just leave me feeling like they are backwards as a society. Ridiculous things like these terror attacks in London just prove it.

From Wikipedia:
In 1990 a Pakistani film was released where Rushdie (played by Afzaal Ahmad) was depicted as plotting, soon after his publication of The Satanic Verses, to cause the downfall of "Pakistan, the stronghold of Islam" by opening a chain of casinos and discos in the country. The hero of the story (played by Mustafa Qureshi) learning of the plot decides to quit his day job as a police officer to recruit his unemployed brothers and create a Mujahid (God's soldiers) group to pursue Rushdie and slay him before the plot can go into effect.[20][21] The film was popular with local Pakistani audiences, and it “presents Rushdie as a Rambo-like figure pursued by four Pakistani guerillas”[22] and surrounded by the Israeli armed forces.[23] Rushdie is protrayed as "a smug, bespectacled butcher in a double-breasted suit, who lives in palatial splendor, [and who] personally slaughters his enemies with a huge blood-soaked sword".[24] In the end as the trio of brothers and their mother are being crucified by Rushdie, Allah frees them with bolts of lightning and "Rushdie is attacked by a quartet of floating holy books (the Koran, Tawrat, Zabur, and Injil), which shoot laser beams into his skull until he bursts into flame"[24], "a scene that evoked shouts of approval from [Pakistani] audiences."[22] The British Board of Film Classification refused to allow it a certificate, as "it was felt that the portrayal of Rushdie might qualify as criminal libel, causing a breach of the peace as opposed to merely tarnishing his reputation."[23] This move effectively banned the film in Britain outright. However two months later, Rushdie himself wrote the board saying that while he thought the film "a distorted, incompetent piece of trash" he would not sue if it was released.[23] He later said "If that film had been banned, it would have become the hottest video in town: everyone would have seen it".[23] While the film was a massive hit in Pakistan, it went virtually unnoticed in the UK.[23]

UK terror threat now 'critical'

Mr Brown thanked the emergency services for their professionalism

The UK's national terrorism threat level has been raised to "critical" after attacks in Glasgow and London.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown urged the public to be vigilant and added: "I know the British people will stand together, united and resolute."

The announcement came after a meeting of the government emergencies committee Cobra, following a burning car being driven into a Glasgow airport terminal.

On Friday, two car bombs were found in central London.

Ministers, police and security service officials held their third meeting of Cobra in three days on Saturday evening, this time with a video link to ministers in Scotland.

In a televised statement, Mr Brown thanked the police, the security and emergency services for the "dedicated professionalism" that has been shown in London and Glasgow Airport.

"The first duty of the government is the security and safety of all the British people, so it is right to raise the level of security at airports and in crowded places in the light of the heightened threat," he said.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident at Glasgow Airport

The critical threat level indicates terrorist attacks are imminent. It is the highest possible level and was also in place after the 7 July 2005 suicide bomb attacks on London.

Security has also been tightened at airports across the US following the attempted attacks.

Strathclyde Police said the incident at Glasgow Airport was being treated as terror related and was being linked to the attempted bombings in London.

Two men were arrested at the scene at 1515 BST after the blazing car was driven into the airport's main terminal.

Chief Constable Willie Rae revealed one of the suspects who had been taken to the city's Royal Alexandra Hospital was in possession of "a suspect device".

Eyewitnesses described a Jeep Cherokee being driven at speed towards the main doors of Glasgow airport's terminal building with flames coming out from underneath shortly after 1500 BST.

All flights to and from the airport have been suspended.

A Scottish government spokesperson said Scottish Ministers were in touch with their Whitehall opposite numbers and First Minister Alex Salmond and have spoken to Mr Brown.

Mr Salmond and Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill took part in the Cobra meeting.

Flights from Glasgow airport were suspended after the crash

Earlier in the day, Cobra also met to discuss the London car bomb attempts.

In the early hours of Friday, two Mercedes containing petrol, gas cylinders and nails were found left outside the Tiger Tiger club in Haymarket and a nearby street but the devices did not detonate.

Police in the capital are checking CCTV footage in their investigation into the planting of the two car bombs.

Unconfirmed reports suggest police may have an image of a suspect leaving the vehicle left outside the Tiger Tiger club.

Police increased patrols and security for events in London over the weekend, including the Gay Pride parade, the Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium and the Wimbledon tennis championships.

That film was just so screwed up, 400. I agree that the Middle Eastern "cultures" that rely on Islam are tended towards a backward slant on reality. after all, any religion that is based on the ravings of an elderly wench spouting drug-induced hallucinations which were transcribed by a barely literate woman is bound to be really messed in the "visions" and logic departments.

seeing the footage its amazing the car didnt blow up. so far no recorded deaths thank god. one of my friends flights left 15 minutes before it happened. We should put a trade embargo on pakistan until they hand over the people running the terrorist training camps. last night i was talking about terrorism and i said they'd never attack scotland. its kinda freaking me out cos i ride the subway in glasgow almost every day its just a circular track and would be an easy target

the sick bastards were blatantly targeting kids cos today is the first day of the school holidays and one of the airports busiest days of the year

The fact that they attacked Glasgow is directly related to the foiled attempts in London. A lighter target like a regional airport is bound to have less security and scrutiny. It shows the despertion at getting of an attack. This was pretty amature though and might be a group not directly tied to Al Queda but sides with them.

Reading the news article... the only guy that caught fire was the knucklehead in the car. You know you might be a crappy terrorist if the only person you set on fire is yourself.

Attacks wont take place here. Not yet. Bin Loser and Co's strategy (and its actually fairly sound) is to separate the US from its allies. They have largely succeeded in places like Spain. New PM in UK... these attacks/thwarted attacks... they hope that the UK will dump us like a bad habit.

Then its 1 on 1... a battle - they think - they can win. Good luck in the UK. It will probably get worse before it get better.

I bet they were just some kids, wanting to do some damage against the infidels. I understand why a lot of people in the Middle East hate America but even if the US started treating them better the radiclals would never change their stance on Death to the West. They want Islam world wide.

Things will probably settle down more than they will escalate. They blew their wad again with the two cars. Then wanting to make a statement with the new PM resorted to the Glasgow attack.

Just keep your head on a swivel be aware of your surroundings and remember you are an American. We stick out when we leave the country. When I lived in Germany it didn't matter how much I dressed like a local people just knew. And if all else fails locate where the US embassy or closest US base is located just in case the **** hits the fan. Thats American soil and you can gain refuge.
