With the Finals in the rearview mirror and the draft & free agency right around the corner, time to fire up an offseason thread again.
I'll start it with a couple of trades that have gone down and a possible coaching hire. T-Wolves trade Mike James & Justin Reed to Houston for Juwan Howard. Pistons trade Carlos Delfino to Toronto for two 2nd round picks. Larry Brown interested in Sacramento head coaching job. |

Nuggets have no draft picks, and JR Smith was thrown through a car.

Marion trade talks continue, but in the end I doubt he ends up anywhere.

Sa Antonio has I think pick 28 and a top 5 pick in the 2nd round. IF they wanted to use those...and maybe Brent Barry, realisticaly how high could they move up in the draft?
W/o Barry, could they get to pick 24? With him, could they get to 19 or 20? Let me know what ya think, I'm not too keen on the "value" of non-lottery draft picks. |

Sounds like the Nugs are already in discussions on a few moves. I'm willing to guarantee that Najera is gone.

Only rumor I know is that Billups would love to be a Nug, but not enough to take the mid-level so that's not going to happen.
We're dumping salary. |

The other day on PTI or around the horn they were talking about a possible Marion for Rasheed Wallace swap. It will be interesting to see what big names go where like Kobe, Garnett, Kidd, Carter and so on. |

Because second round picks are pretty much useless in the NBA as well. In fact, once you get out of the lottery it's usually pretty much a crap-shoot.

I wouldn't go that far. I think a draft in any sport is a crap shoot of sorts. I'd have to look it up, but some real quality gems have been found in the second round, if I'm not mistaken. The focus is on the first round, I agree, but you can find quality late.

Kobe may not be going anywhere.... But the Lakers HAVE to be busy this offseason. Local talk is Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum for Jermain O'Neal

So I assume Camby is a goner? Any chance we end up with a draft pick? If we are dumping salary no chance of a AI & Camby for Kobe trade, I bet they'd love to dump Kenyon Martin as well.

The Spurs getting Parker and Ginoboli at the end of the FIRST round is remarkable. To hit that late twice got them two more championships. Hell, Kleiza has been a great pick for the Nuggets considering where they got him. Last edited by Man-Goblin; 06-16-2007 at 03:36 PM.. |

Gibson and Millsap this year. Apparently only Kiki couldn't find anything worthwhile outside the lottery picks. |

You could see it in their playoff performances over the last two seasons. They very well could have beaten the Suns a couple of years ago, and Bryant pulled one of the whiniest displays I have ever seen in basketball. He basically pulled a "Pippen" for the entire game 7. Kobe wants out. The whole deal is quite ridiculous from both sides of the argument. I gather that the Lakers wont ship him out this season because they would rather sell tickets and put Bryant through another fruitless season than exchange him for very little value. Kobe will either have another star player to take the pressure off of him next season or he will be traded. |
