Confronted with strong opposition to his Iraq policies, President Bush decides to interpret public opinion his own way. Actually, he says, people agree with him.

He's starting to remind me of Captain Queeg of The Caine Mutiny. He doesn't like the polls, so he decides they mean something else.

Bush aides say poll questions are asked so many ways, and often so imprecisely, that it is impossible to conclude that most Americans really want to leave.

I saw the article earlier. I think it's Rove giving him the script. Of course, bushii is asking for what he's getting, but I think the Rove spin is really based on their last straw - that perhaps if the Iraqi parliment gets off it's ass, and the Iraqis can commit two battalions, and progress continues in anbar - then perhaps we won't have to see another evacuation off the embassy type national nightmare. If we can see some progress, the the polls supporting a total withdrawl in 08 may be shown to be not so solid as the DImoRats like to put forth. Not that bushii's leadership in Iraq has been nothing better than a total capitulation to corruption and incompetence.

I'm seeing Rove more and more lately ... the lost e-mails, the 11 mentions of Al-Quaeda in last week's press conference, the constant use or the word "decider." I don't know why, but I'm noticing Rove fingerprints more and more often.

10 more soldiers died on Monday. But hey, the decider warned us that we would see more casualties so that makes their deaths ok...
