Kinzer discusses how the US destroyed Iran's democratic government in 1953 -- how our CIA staged the coup against Iranian leader Mohammed Mossadeqh and then installed our puppet, the Shah. That was the start of all of our woes in the Persian Gulf.

No. The start was when FDR promised King Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia protection in return for access to Saudi oil.
