MS update for counterfeit - The Orange Mane

Was fixing a PC of a friends today and this message poped up at bootup (you might be a victim of counterfiet) after we did the MS update.

Of course I suggest they purchase the software but a fix until then is just to go into your system 32 folder and rename the wgalogon.dll file. Again, you should purchase the software from MS if you do have a counterfeit copy.

The reason I posted this was because apparently, even people with legal copies and legal keys are getting this message also. I mean, how messed up is that? You have a lagit copy of MS that you paid for and you are getting this message.

My printing computer is doin this. Does it matter what you rename it?

no - as long as you keep the extension .dll you are fine.

Now that the new pc is working...I'm going to attempt to try this with the pc that had that message about a counterfeit windows copy...even though it isn't. Can't hurt to try...
