Default The Dirty Truth in Iraq

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/05/23/ira...eut/index.html

For every American civilian killed in Iraq in the first four months of this year, according to the statistics, four foreign contract workers died.

-------------------------------------

Private security companies place pay disparities in the context of skill levels, training and relative income levels in the United States and developing countries. They see the search for low-cost labor as standard business practice.

-----------------------------------

That means a Filipino might drive a truck for $500 a week along the same route an American drives his truck for $2,000 a week. The risks are the same -- high and rising: Attacks on convoys have increased sharply during the past few months.

-------------------------------------

IMO, this is despicable on so many levels. Is war now considered so commonplace that it is subject to the cost cutting theories of standard business practices? How long before we can simply pay the Filipinos and Indians to fight our wars for us, like the colonial imperialists of the past? We've already done away with the support function of the military. Why not do away with the soldier function as well and go full mercenary? Then, we can start wars whenever and wherever we want and we won't even have to ask Congress.

Iraq hasn't worked out so well because of pathetically poor management, but maybe a better set of managers can start turning a profit on war. After all, if we can ascertain the correct set of principles, why not? Maybe in the future, we'll have a war section in Forbes. Most profitable war mongers of 2010? Our soldiers are fighting and dying for $300 a week while the truck drivers make $2000. What if our soldiers decide to do their own cost analysis and quit the military to join the security forces?

I can guarantee you one thing; If Eisenhower were alive to see this, he wouldn't stop puking. This is one more sign of America being driven into the toilet by the pigs in charge of our government.
