I believe this is the best show on TV. Anyone else watch this? What are your thoughts on tomorrow's finale?

I watched the first season and thought it was great. But for whatever reason, I got really bored with the first part of season 2 and have never watched it again.
Maybe I'll put it on my blockbuster sometime, but doubtful. |

It's in the top 3 of best shows ever. Seriously, I like it that much. Frustratingly good, if that makes sense. The writers know just how to string you along.

You won't be disappointed. Season 3 started off slow, but it's ending with a bang. Total mind ****.

Totally agree... great show, if you haven't seen it I recommend checking out the DVD's at your local video store... you need to watch it all in sequence.
I had a friend stop watchin after the infamous "polar bears"... but that all starts to make sense in season 3. The cool thing about it is that it has an ending point... it won't be dictated by the ratings... There is an end to the story as Lost ends at at the end of season 6 in 2010. |

The best show on television and I know everything that happens in the finale (connections) and (watched it) who wants to hear spoilers?

Yeah I agree... thought Season 2 was a bit of a let down after the incredible first season, and my interest really was waning early in season 3, but the last few episodes have got me hooked again. I can't wait for the season finale.

"Lost" is a show where I like the premise and saw an episode or two and told myself "If you don't watch this from the beginning, you probably won't understand half of it".
I don't watch much network tv but the three shows I'm following have either ended their seasons or I've lost interest in them so I thought about finding the first season of Lost on DVD. There is a used DVD place nearby that I visit from time to time and, sure enough, they had Lost, Season 1 available (for $32). As I took it to the check-out stand, I saw where they were checking in Season 2 on DVD so I asked for that as well (for $30). It took me less than two weeks to go through all 12 discs (47 episodes). I'm now hoping that, somewhere, I can see Season 3 in its proper sequence. The ABC site has only the four most recent episodes. I do have my problems with some of the storylines and the group seems all too passive about trying to find a way to leave the island. Also with 40+ survivors, I'd like to meet a few more than the dozen or so the writers highlight. Surely some of them have stories too. The way this is going, I have a belief that nobody actually survived the crash (in real life, it would have been miraculous) and this island is actually some form of afterlife which explains the various miracles that happen and explains why nobody is coming for them and nobody can leave. At times it seems like "Gilligan's Island" meets "Cast Away" meets "Harry Potter" but there's enough mystery in the show to keep you waiting for the next installment. You even have your own Ginger-MaryAnn argument over Kate or Claire. (it should have been Kate or Shannon but they killed off Shannon). |

Lost is my favorite show on TV. Thanks to DVR I have managed to see every episode in sequence. Can't wait for the finale tonight, but I know that they will leave me hanging.
To anybody that is thinking of watching it, get the DVDs and start from the beginning. Midway through the first season you will be hooked for life. |

I've watched it from the start by quirk - and I am hooked big time. Not a "Top 3 all time" like Scorp, but it's appointment TV, no doubt. Better than even the Sopranos the past couple months. The writers fell off the tracks for awhile last season when they had to kill off an important character because the actress - Michelle Rodriguez - went batty for reasons unrelated to the storylines. But since then they're very creative. "Frustratingly good" is an excellent summation.
Tonight is the 2-hour season finale .... btw, smalltowngrl is one resident expert here. Her thread is in the Off Topics room: http://www.orangemane.com/BB/showthread.php?t=42687 |

It's def. great television, full of great twists and turns, multiple questions, very complex plot. It's created one of the greatest television secrets (why they are on the island) and i guarantee you this...in three years when the show ends (thats the end date they created) everyone will be pissed off because no one will be satisfied with the reason

Questions linger from "The Man Behind The Curtain," scripted by Elizabeth Sarnoff and Drew Goddard. It aired two weeks ago and manifested one of the best hours of television this season....
* “You do remember birthdays, don’t you, Richard?” asks Ben. Why does he ask this? * Why did The Others go to the trouble of bringing Locke’s dad to the island? What did they get out of Locke killing his own father? * Why does Ben keep lying about being born on the island? Why is it important that the other Others believe he was born there? * Is it significant that Ben met Dharma mathematician Horace Goodspeed and Dharma teacher Olivia minutes after Ben was born? * When Locke begins beating Mikhail into unconsciousness, Ben calls for Tom and Mikhail to intervene, but neither lifts a finger. Why? And what made Locke think he could beat Mikhail without repercussions? * “I hear you’re going to go see Jacob. You’re going to need this,” says Alex as she hands Locke a pistol. Why does she give it to him? And why does Alex give Ben such a mean look when she wishes Ben a happy birthday? Does she know Ben wasn’t born there? * Why did the hostiles keep attacking the Dharma camp? Why have the 815ers been spared similar attacks? * Do the hostiles let Ben live because he could see his dead mother? What does this mean for Jack, who could see his dead father? * Locke and Ben cross a strange line of sand (or something) on their way to see Jacob. What is that about? * If Richard Alpert is truly a “native” of the island, why does he speak American English? Where did he get those cool hippie clothes? * Why has Richard not aged a day in 30 years? * How long has it been since the purge? And why do the Dharma groceries keep parachuting in? * Why can Locke hear Jacob asking for help when Ben can’t? * Why does Jacob ask for help? * Who or what is Jacob? |

We've got a thread over in the OT forum on this.
Any chance we can get spoiler tags on this site?? Also, might be a good idea to warn in the title that there might be spoilers in the thread. Some people might not like to read them...thus spoiler tags. |

Some friends told me about the show this year during the time that season 3 was off the air until February.
I rented the DVD's at the video store and I watched the first two seasons of Lost in two weeks. Then, I downloaded the episodes of season 3 that had already aired and watched them online. Once Lost started back up in February I was up to date. Lost is by far the best TV show I have ever seen. I have never really gotten into any TV shows because none of them interest me enough but Lost blows them all away. Too bad the season is over tonight. |

It's good TV... we TIVO the show and watch it Thursday evening. Sometimes if you slow down some of the scenes you can see things you would not ordinarily see.
For example when Jack was doing the operation on Ben there was an image of a face in the door window... not sure but it may have been Jacob. |

Best show on TV. I'm addicted. Can't wait for the finale tonight, although I won't be able to watch it until Friday. Til then, I have to avoid all mention of it. I guarantee you one thing: Locke is not dead.

I think LOST has really been drug out too long. This season has been mediocre to say the least. Jack's character has been just plain annoying, and they have focused too much attention on the "Others" and forgotten some of the great characters they helped create in the first few seasons. I agree this show is Frustrating, I keep watching it, and after the episode I am normally not satisfied.

Yep, my favorite show right now. However, I did not get into it until a couple of months ago. I always saw the trailers and thought "I think I would like that show", but never pulled the trigger.
So, like a few others on this thread, I rented or bought the first two seasons and saw them in order. BTW, if you are new to Lost, I highly recommend doing the same. If you try to get into it at this point in the 3rd season, you will likely be lost (sorry, couldn't resist, but true.). However, this show is not for everyone because there is no real conclusion or closure to the stories. If the writers answer one question they will open up five new questions, and may not get to them until the next season, if at all. So you really need alot of patience to stay with the program. People with ADD probably hate the show. But if you can hang with it, you'll love it. It has it all; suspense, mystery, some romance, action, and just about everything else. Enjoy. ![]() |
