Default Linkin Park - new cd

Minutes to Midnight is the new cd they just released and it's pretty good.
I first listened to some of it, and dismissed it. But then I read the album review, and actually listened to the words. In an era where we are constantly underwhelmed by T.V., music, and especially movies, these guys actually made songs that say SOMETHING.

p.s.

If anyone listens to talk radio, I was on Tom Hartman today, ripping apart our Sec of State this morning.

Not really a fan of them but I did hear that they are going to be doing more rock stuff and getting away from the rap.

Well, the nu rap/metal thing is pretty much over and they no longer have Limp Bizkit to use as a guide for future career moves, so......

They're saying something with this new cd? I'll believe that when I see it....this band's bread and butter was the social worker rock genre afterall.

I think even the Dixie Chicks can say the same

Bush is an awfully easy target these days. (moreso than ever)

Just wait till new Rage Against the Machine comes out, they claim to have a lot to say too.

I liked some of the old songs they did. Kind of to mainstream, but they have some talent.

c'mon man. you may or may not like their songs, but they have about as much talent as a 12 year old guitar student.

That's good because the whiny, teenage angst, broken home bullshat doesn't really work anymore when you're in your 30's.

I was looking at the new Linkin Park cd and it comes with a warning label:

"WARNING: You just purchased a Linkin Park CD"

Nope. I'll pass. LP is a bit too contrived for my taste.

Linkin Park is experiencing a serious case of Pearl Jamitis. A great band that everybody hates because they got too popular. I just got done reading an article in the latest Wired though that talks about how the lead singer was stalked and how they caught this girl working with the government who had hacked into everything Chester the lead singer had access too. Crazy article, I felt really sorry for them, the girl tapped into his cell phone and when they went to her house she had a shrine with pictures of Chester's kids in the bath.

When Audioslave broke up, RATM announced they were getting back together. I read an interview at some guitar website with Morello saying that alot had happened in the world since RATM broke up that they have taken issue with (9/11, Iraq, the whole Bush presidency, etc) - sounded to me like new material might be coming.

We'll see....
