He's always been controversial. If a religious guy had to die, I wish it would have been that crazyass that pickets soldiers' funerals.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/05/15/jer....ap/index.html LYNCHBURG, Virginia (AP) -- The Rev. Jerry Falwell has died, a Liberty University executive said Tuesday. He was 73. Earlier, the executive said Falwell was hospitalized in "gravely serious" condition after being found unconscious in his office. Ron Godwin, the executive vice president of Falwell's Liberty University, said Falwell was found unresponsive around 10:45 a.m. and taken to Lynchburg General Hospital. Godwin said he was not sure what caused the collapse, but "he has a history of heart challenges." "I had breakfast with him, and he was fine at breakfast," Godwin said. "He went to his office, I went to mine and they found him unresponsive." Falwell, a television evangelist who founded the Moral Majority, became the face of the religious right in the 1980s. He later founded the conservative Liberty University and serves as its president. Falwell survived two serious health scares in early 2005. He was hospitalized for two weeks with what was described as a viral infection, then hospitalized again a few weeks later after going into respiratory arrest. |

Adios to another American crook. Props to him he was good at what he did and he became a milionaire. Hell, I'd do it if I could.

Here is a bit of info just to get an idea of what kind of person he was before we get all misty eyed over his passing. Not to speak ill of the dead but lets remember him for his deeds in life.
per wiki: "In the 1980s Jerry Falwell was an outspoken supporter of the Apartheid regime in South Africa. When president PW Botha was elected President by the White South African minority, Reverend Falwell went to South Africa and made statements supporting the government there and urging American Christians to buy Krugerrands, a coin issued by the South African Government[4]. He drew the ire of many when he called Nobel Peace Prize winner and Anglican Archbishop Desmond Tutu a phony. He later apologized for that remark and claimed that he had misspoken" More Jerry gems, “Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions.” “AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals.” “The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country.” “If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being.” “It appears that America's anti-Biblical feminist movement is at last dying, thank God, and is possibly being replaced by a Christ-centered men's movement which may become the foundation for a desperately needed national spiritual awakening.” I'd say he spoke for himself very well. |

I don't think anyone was getting weepy. I know a few people that went to Liberty University, which is the only way I know much about Falwell. He dislikes Mormons almost as much as he dislikes homosexuals - we're all going to the same hell, in his eyes. He seems to have been an equal-opportunity condemner.
I guess sirhcyennek81 and I can be neighbors. ![]() |

If there is a hell, hopefully, Satan tossed Falwell into a cell with Dahmer. Don't drop the soap, Jer.

Falwell was a bigoted creep. Hopefully, the morgue will accidentally cremate him so he can't be reunited with his body at rapture.

you should know better than I right - at least, thats the angle you take! PS - I have had thrown my jabs at the man when he was alive. Now that he is gone, I mention that HIS own day of judgment has arrived after spending a life judging others. And somehow I (or anyone else who isnt in tears over this) is lacking class? |

We've got the Moral Majority coming in here defending a guy who blamed 9/11 on gays and feminism. You fellas sure know how to pick a worthy cause.

He had a full lifetime to forge his legacy and chose to be a voice for intolerance and bigotry. How else should he be remembered? Are we supposed to lie or simply forget who he was and what he was all about?

BEAUTIFUL what glorious news that this gluttonous waste of life will be wasting life and oxygen no more.
Good riddance, and may he burn in hell (since he so vehemently believed in the concept). Its a great day this piece of **** is dead. |

Where's his grave gonna be, so I can take a **** on it?
It's kinda funny actually. Today at work I was in a debate over weather or not Christian education was superior. I used Brigham Young and Liberty University as examples of how they are "elite" schools despite the fact that they will accept almost anybody who professes their fascist dogma. Then I compaired - science forgive me - Kent Hovind's (THE apex voice on creationism) to Richard Dawkins' (THE apex voice on Darwinism) education as an example. Funny Christians...
