Which team will be worse?
I'm leaning towards the Raiders, but that defense was pretty stout last season, and being on the field 40 minutes a game was brutal. Can the offense be any worse that last year? The Chiefs are rebuilding, and I think they are in for a huge slide. So which team will win more games, and how many? |

This thread is a little undeserved. The Chiefs are easily a better football team than they were last year.

Raiders offense is rebuilding this year. Trying a Bronco-style blocking scheme, new QB, new OC, new O-line coach, 4 o-linemen from other teams..... should gel by 2008 when Jamarcus & Michael Bush take over.

Where is the option for Chiefs 1, Raiders 1 (They'll win at home against each other)

I think Raiders and Chiefs are both 8-8 teams.
The Raiders are going to sneak up on some teams end of the season after the team figures out what works for them. The Raiders under Lane Kiffen are going to get their confidence back. The Chiefs are going to lose some games they USED TO win after teams figure out how much they really suck. Herm Edwards sheep are going to get restless and despite sporting a better defense and fighting hard each game they are going to struggle to be 8-8. I put down 4-4. It's a Broncos board. I'm biased. |

I agree that the Raiders are now on the way back. Thankfully it won't last, becuase if Lane Kiffin proves himself to be a decent head coach he WILL fall out with Al Davis (GUA-RAN-TEED!) and they will fall apart again, however with a decent defense they should be a lot more substantial than people think.
The only question mark about that is how quickly Russell beds in, assuming that they do start him day one (and they don't seem to have many options there..). If they do the smart thing and get a decent vet to play while he warms he pine for a year then they should be quite solid, but if he's starting from game one you would expect him to struggle for a while howver good he eventually turns out to be. The Chiefs on the other hand are just an enigma to me at the moment. I have a feel that improvements in the defense might be just enough to offset decline in the offense (particularly the line) so that they stay where they are, butwho knows... Obviously I'm hoping that both teams suck but real life is rarely that nice... |

I put down the wrong year in my title, but I meant this forthcoming season of course.
Our division is a two team race. |

I hate the chiefs but its crazy to say the Chiefs and Raiders are both pushovers. Chiefs hand us a loss every year since I can't even remember. They also hand the Bolts a loss every year as well. I can't see how they are a bottom feeder like the Raiders whos two free wins for everyone in the division.
THis is not a weak division, it will have two of the top 10 AFC offenses next year and three of the top 10 defenses. Yes, Raiders have a top 10 defense. Imagine if we switched places with Indy ![]() Last edited by Willynowei; 05-08-2007 at 11:58 AM.. |

In all seriousness, I think the Chiefs will win 7 or 8 games next year, so there are no options for me to pick. The Raiders are going to be downright horrible, picking in the top 5 next April

The Chiefs O-line is in disarray. The D-line is too. Next year the running game will be worse, and more pressure on Huard, with again, a weak Oliine in front of him.

The BRONCOS and winning are the only things consistant about this division. SD is hot now but usually they do that for a few seaonss then the fade away for 15 years or so. Same with the Raiders. They have sucked for so long, theyn they had Gannon for a few good years and now they are back in the hole of lame ducks. The Chiefs, at least I will give them some credit. They have been more consistant then the other two but have always been consistant and being better then average but not good enough to be a true threat to the title.
Broncos are the only ones who have the coaching and managemnet in place to win it all. Personally, I think SD takes a step backwards this year with Norv at the front. Just you watch. I say they get 9 or 10 wins on the season. Not bad, and maybe good enough to get into the playoffs but they are not gonna get all those double digit comebacks again this year. |

The Raiders have more questions with Russell and Kiffin being in their first years, but they definetely have more upside than the Chefs. I wouldn't be surprised if the fade were 1-15. I also wouldn't be surprised if they were 8-8. KC will probably start off decent then hit a wall when LJ's knees stop working around week 10 or so. Then they have Croyle (lol) behind a sorry O line trying to lead an offense. KC's D might have improved, but it's definetely not good enough to carry the team. I'd say the best they can hope for is to edge out Denver for a wild card again.
