Default Jags Cornerback Ahmad Carroll Arrested

This one has suspension written all over it IMO.

ATLANTA (AP) -- Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back Amhad Carroll was arrested on weapon and drug charges early Saturday on suspicion of being involved in a disturbance with a weapon, authorities said.

The 23-year-old Carroll was questioned by police after he was pointed out as someone involved during a disturbance at an Atlanta restaurant, Atlanta police spokesman officer James Polite said.

Polite said Carroll acknowledged to police that he was carrying a 9mm pistol. Police then searched his car and found 11 pink tablets that were believed to be ecstasy. He was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon without a license, possession of drugs and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Carroll, an Atlanta native, was released Saturday on a $7,000 bond.

Nothing wrong with ecstasy not like it's coke or heroin, and every NFL player carries a gun. Nah, I don't think he will get suspended.

I'm surprised nobody here has proposed trying to acquire him "at a discount" yet.

He'll probably get cut before Goodell can respond. He's not worth the associated embarrassment.

If a this is his first felony offense, probably 2 year probation after a plea bargain.

Hooray for the Jags! First team to have the nads to release one of the malcontents. Of course the edict from the league may have influenced their decision. This clown was a first round draft choice in 2004. What a waste. I hope Denver's new draft choices take heed.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars waived cornerback Ahmad Carroll on Monday, two days after he was arrested on weapon and drug charges.

Carroll was questioned by Atlanta police early Saturday after he was identified as someone involved during a disturbance at a restaurant, authorities said.

Atlanta police spokesman officer James Polite said Carroll acknowledged he was carrying a 9mm pistol. Police then searched his car and found 11 pink tablets believed to be ecstasy. He was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon without a license, possession of drugs and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Carroll, who is from Atlanta, was released Saturday on a $7,000 bond.

Carroll signed with the Jags last October, a week after he was waived by Green Bay. A first-round draft pick by the Packers in 2004, Carroll was on Jacksonville's roster for 11 games. He was active for two of them and played in one.

The decision to waive Carroll follows NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's edict that teams will be held responsible for their players' misconduct. Goodell suspended Tennessee cornerback Adams "Pacman" Jones for the 2007 season and suspended Cincinnati receiver Chris Henry for the first eight games. Both players had a history of arrests.

Carroll was Jacksonville's fifth player arrested since September.

Safety Gerald Sensabaugh was arrested in March in Kingsport, Tenn., and charged with speeding and carrying a firearm without a permit.

Receiver Charles Sharon was arrested in March in Tampa, Fla. Sharon was charged with grand theft of a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm, both felonies.

Offensive tackle Khalif Barnes was arrested in November on a drunken-driving charge after he passed a police car at 101 mph. Cornerback Brian Williams was arrested on drunken-driving charges in September.

It's amazing that Carroll didn't get the wake up call when Green bay waived him the first time and now he's flushed his career down the toilet because of this dumb arrest. I hope for Carroll's sake he has a Plan B if football doesn't work out, which is a less than 5% likelihood.

Well, he can take his last years winnings from the pit bull ranch he and Vick have and buy a Popeyes chicken franchise
