Keep Elam. We have plenty of kickers already.

We're not trading for Crosby since we brought Sauerbrun back for kickoffs. Elam, though his leg strength is not the best, he's very accurate. He's so accurate I can go to the toilet & miss the kick knowing he made it.
I am surprised he wasn't taken 1st day though. But, regarding Denver's interest? Slim to none. |

What the hell...I think we may as well go for Crosby....
We needed DT , LB and safety and wasted our third on a OT that is a reach in the third...Wasted another third and sixth to trade up for a player that we probably could have taken at 21 May as well trade away some of next years picks for Crosby. At Least he is the best player at his position... |

Crosby << Elam
Elam is good for at least another 7-8 seasons. After all, there was a Morten Anderson sighting this season |

Nada -- not going to loose future picks or depth to add to a team strength.

Last year was a great draft most of the folks that freaked, have recanted. 2005 was not bad either. |

I'm pretty sure that kicker is at the very low end of team priorities, although with a guy like Crosby, it has to be tempting.
As for trading something or another to get into the fourth or maybe the fifth round...I wouldn't put anything past Shanahan. I remember a story long ago about furious he was his first year after Wade Phillips left the cupboard bare & the Broncos didn't have a selection until the fourth round (Jamie Brown). Not sure why, exactly, but I just can't see Shanahan hanging out, sorting the doughnuts into sprinkle and non-sprinkle until the 6th round rolls around. |

I Like the two DE s we got...but HATED the trade up. We needed a DT and we still don't have him. The O-line player will be solid...in a couple of years! No help right now....unless Lepsis doesn't have a good recovery. Then we are gonna need him right away. I've been screaming D-line all spring....and we almost have it done. I think we got worked over on the trade...either by BB in NE or by J-ville, and we gave more than we should have ...a three and a sixth NEXT year maybe. Or just the 70 three pick should have been enough. Now we'll be looking for a way to get back in the 4th/5th...that means players and next year picks anyway. As for Crosby. He is going to be a great kicker for many years. Elam has been fantastic....but his leg strength is definitely going south. I think he is done in two years, maybe less with another injury. We shouldn't trade up to take him at 4 or 5 (I was Kidding) but if he is there at 6 he is definitely worth it because he is the best kicker in the draft. ![]() |

I'm a little surprised Crosby fell, but not much. He's a fricken' kicker! He'll probably go in the next two rounds.

I'm not surprised he fell...the combine is where it's at, and he struggled. He didn't kick deep at all, and he's inconsistent from distance. At the same age he couldn't hold Elam's jock. Nothing against the guy, but Denver has the right guy for the job now.

Did Mason stab someone a few days ago and I just missed it? It's the late fifth round and he's still around. Not only that, but the Chiefs just picked the UCLA kicker.

Yeah, I caught that too. Crosby isn't even the first guy off the board! Pretty amazing. The UCLA guy isn't that great. I would have taken the guy in Arizona over him, but if the Chiefs need a kicker, I guess that works.

74 more picks left, no way he goes undrafted, but this is messed up.

I would love to see them pick him up. At this point, he probably would be better off getting undrafted so he can pick and choose where he wants to go.

I think its funny how all you CU lovers and Crosby lovers are shell shocked now that your boy Mason is still there in the 6th round.
Personally, I wouldn't mind giving up a 6th next year and Alexander for a 7th round pick to get Crosby. Would mean Ernster gets the boot if Crosby can cut it. |

Don't know much about the kickers but I saw a portion of the all-star competition and he crapped out first against 3 other guys. Other than that I have no clue why others are being taken ahead of him

if he goes undrafted it would be incredibly stupid not to sign him as an UDFA
Elam has maybe 2 or 3 years left and his range isn't as good as it once was, i say bring him in and use his leg for kicks over 45yards and for kickoffs, or sit him on the practice squad. |
