The family of Channon Christian would like to thank everyone for all their prayers and everything that has been done during this time. We have lost someone who was very beautiful and loving. We are grateful for the outpouring of help that this community has given us and would not be able to get through this without you. We also want to thank all of the law enforcement agencies for all of their hard work.

We ask at this time that everyone please respect our privacy and allow us to begin the healing process. We deeply appreciate your continued support.

Not a black and white issue

Trust me when I say this story is more newsworthy than the Natalie Holloway case, the Duke lacrosse scandal and Anna Nicole Smith combined. A young couple, students from the University of Tennessee, were victims of a carjacking and were kidnapped, raped, tortured and eventually murdered by five people. Descriptions of their deaths were so brutal that I had to read them several times to fully process the implications.

It's a sad case in many ways. The two victoms, and the fact that multiple men of color may (or may not) have been involved, seems to me, even more tragic.

Not to defend him, but oddball murders happens every day. Heck, here's one from the other day. A female student at Texas A&M comes home from spring break. She gets into an argument with her b/f. She tells him she wants to break up. He gets angry, kills her. Cuts her up into pieces and barbecues her body on his grill, on his porch, for multiple days. This guy lives in a large condon/apt complex. Neighbors don't think twice, but know this guy is barbecuing at 4 AM and other weird hours of the day. This crazy crap does happen every day. I remember reading that week two other totally bazarre murders happened that week.
