Default Kiper choses between qb's last night

Last night on Sportcenter Mel Kiper and some other Dot.com idiot were asked if cutler and russell were in the draft this year, who would they take. Mel, no good piece of sh1t , kiper stated " Jemarcus Russell"
I hate that s.o.b with a passion, and for the life of me do not understand why he would select russell.
To sum it up, Mel Kiper, if you were on fire, I wouldnt p1ss on you to put it out.

Kiper has never been a big fan of Cutler, hopefully Shanny proves him wrong, but I remeber him being the one guy to say Cutler was overrated before last year's draft.

I specifically remember he and Mort butting heads on the subject a bit.

Russell has a bigger arm, came from a bigger school. Whats not to like?

Doesnt bother me much at all. In the end, Cutler is in the best system, and in the end will have more championships, thats what matters.

Yep it would do no good at all to admit/say that last years #11 pick QB is better then the expected #1 pick this year.

Russell has more size and arm strength, but Cutler has him on accuracy and mobility. Plus, Cutler had no legit pro prospects on offense with him while in college and still put up good numbers, while Russell had WR Bowe, a likely 1st rounder, WR Davis, a likely 2nd round pick, and a solid OL.

God forbid anybody disagrees with the opinion that Cutler is the second coming of #7.

I really could care less who is pimping Jay. The bandwagon will be plenty full soon enough. I prefer the extra room right now.

Well Mel was very high on Trent Dilfer many moons ago.

Which lead to one great rant on the Colts ownership for passing up Dilfer twice.

Mel is Mel.

He's just looking at the QB's without a team attached. Russell has more upside and the dreaded word potential, than Cutler did, when compared side by side.

But Jay with Shanny and the Broncos as a whole is much more favorable than Russell and the Radiers......even Russell alone.

I would rather have Cutler over Russell...for that matter I would rather have Quinn over Russell but it isn't like it is some crazy reach for somebody to like Russell better than either of them.

You act like he made the statement that Aaron Brooks is better than Peyton Manning or something. Believe it or not there are people that don't think everything Broncos is the greatest in the world.

#1.) Arron Brooks = Jemarcus Russell- brooks is more athletic with better feet, both inaccurate.

#2.) Not everyone agrees the broncos are the greatest, but everyone does agree that the chiefs suck!

Mel ranked the quaterbacks in the following order:

1. Leinart
2. Young
3. Russell
4. Quinn
5. Cutler

I bet Mel never watched the Broncos @ Cardinals last year. Cutler out played Leinart from start to finish. He can do things Leinart can't. Leinart's a good quarterback, but I would rather have Cutler.

Before I watched the game I wasn't sure If I would have picked Leinart or Cutler if they were both on the board for the Broncos. Leinart was a Heisman trophy winner and had played well in national championship games. When all things were equal Cutler looked like the better quarterback.

You think playing with the Cards with Denny Green at the helm is equal to playing with the Broncos and Shanny?

I would hardly call QB'ing a 5-11 team equal to QB'ing a 9-7 squad.

Another thing to bear in mind. Mel said Cutler was overhyped last year. He would loose some credability if he changed his tune. IMHO Cutler will make him eat crow in the future.

And believe it or not not everybody around here cares with the inner workings of the Chiefs in a Bronco forum either

I admit, I've only seen a couple of games for Russell... but if he has more arm strength than Cutler he must literally teleport the ball to his receivers. C'mon, Cutler throws one of the hardest balls I've ever seen.

NaptownChief I bet the betting line would be a lot closer for the Broncos @ Cardinals than Vanderbilt @ USC. Going into the game a lot of experts were picking the Cardinals to win. The difference in talent level is a lot less.

No question it is much closer than that gigantic disparity the two had in college but certainly no where near equal. With the Cards you are surrounded by nothing but losers and that is the only thing they know.

The better question would have been for Russell. "You are likely to end up wearing silver and black for your NFL career. Would you trade places with Jay Cutler, if you had the opportunity?"

Exactly. Would Tom Brady be Tom Brady if he went number 1 instead of to the Patriots? There is a reason why the team is picking number one. Cutler fell into a great situation like Brady.

Nope, Russell has more arm strength of the two, but Cutler has much more accuracy IMO. Cutler has a great arm, but Russell does have the 6'6, 260lbs to help have more zip. Besides, arm strength can be overrated or else Jeff George could still be in the NFL and would have actually helped a team win for a once.

NFL Draft In Chaos As Mel Kiper's Big Board Is Knocked Over

NFL Draft In Chaos As Mel Kiper's Big Board Is Knocked Over

BRISTOL, CT—NFL officials and ESPN executives made an emergency announcement Tuesday stating that the 2007 NFL Player Draft may have to be postponed indefinitely, as draft guru Mel Kiper Jr.'s Big Board, the index-card-laden bulletin board used to catalog, rank, and track every single player in the draft, was accidentally knocked over late Monday night.

"I just got up from my seat at the table to get a cup of coffee, and I must have hit the Big Board with my shoulder," said Kiper, holding up a loose stack of cards bearing players' names, positions, and schools printed in his distinctive block letters. "Now, the entire draft has been jumbled all together and no one is sure what player should go when. We might have to wait until July for me to get everyone back where they belong."

"Look at this," Kiper said, gesturing to a table where his Big Board lay uncharacteristically horizontal and bereft of player rankings. "It's not supposed to be like that. Not supposed to be like that at all."

Since the Big Board's introduction in 1984, it has served as the ranking medium for all top NFL draft picks. In its entire 23-year history, the Board has never before been knocked completely all the way over.

"This is much worse than the 1995 'bobble' of the Big Board that saw five players' names from the mid-first round come unpinned and flutter to Mel Kiper's floor," said Buffalo Bills general manager Marv Levy, who was woken by aides and told of the knock-over only minutes after it occurred. "We weren't sure whether we were supposed to draft Warren Sapp, Ruben Brown, Mark Fields, or Ellis Johnson. In the end, we had to guess, and Sapp went to Tampa Bay. I don't want this to happen again, to anyone."

Commissioner Roger Goodell issued a call for calm from an NFL office besieged by frantic phone calls from journalists, scouts, teams' front offices, and the agents of almost every player on the board, all of whom insist that their client was listed toward the Big Board's top.

"While this is a huge setback for football, we will still be holding the draft in an orderly fashion," Goodell said. "We may have to delay it for a number of weeks, but one way or another, we will work with Mr. Kiper to recover as much information as possible related to player rankings. The full resources of the NFL are, as usual, at Mr. Kiper's disposal."

Meanwhile, Goodell says he has requested that ESPN search through recent footage to see if the intact Big Board can be seen in the background of any shots or if Kiper appeared on the network discussing draft rankings at any time.

"We're in bad shape, but all is not completely lost," said Kiper, shuffling through the stack of rumpled index cards he managed to salvage from the area of his floor where the board fell. "I'm reasonably sure that this 'Calvin Johnson' fellow was up near the top, for instance. He's a wide receiver, though, and I'm not sure I'd rank a wide receiver first. And there's a young man named Okoye here whose name I remember… 19 years old, though, can that be right? Damn it, how could I do something so stupid?"

Kiper added that he would be working around the clock to restore order to the Big Board "up until the eve of the draft, if necessary," and hopes that some clue to the Board's former state can be found in his recently published draft guide, the 120-page Mel Kiper Jr's 2007 NFL Draft Report.
