Default Warrant for Chris Terry issued

FOX 5 in Atlanta reports that Chiefs offensive lineman failed to show up for an April 20 hearing in connection with recent assault allegations, and a judge has issued a warrant for his arrest.

"He just knocked here in my face," says Foronda Stodgehill. She alleges that Terry hit her with a fistful of cash, and that he then came backed and poured a bottle of beer over her head.

Terry's lawyer claims that his client has been out of town, and efforts had been made to postpone the hearing. But given the recent publicity generated by the suspensions of Pacman and Pukeman, and in light of the Commish's new get-tough Personal Conduct Policy, it was beyond idiotic for Terry not to get his butt to the courtroom. And for his lawyer not to explain to him the dire importance of showing up.

Brace yourself, Chris -- given your history, the decision to diss a judge could be enough to result in a one-year ban.

Meanwhile, the issuance of the arrest warrant isn't enough to re-set the clock that has yet to strike 12. (Or 10.) We'll reset to zero when Terry is arrested.

This was on PFT. Good job Terry you just messed up your whole year.

He FTA'd and he's got a bench warrant out, BFD in the grand scheme. He'll appear, pay the bond and they'll set a new date. Question should still be asked why he left town with an upcoming court date and how serious were the efforts of his attorney to reschedule?

I'm not sure this is as trivial as you think. I'm sure it will get the attention of the comish. They won't be tolerating anything that makes the NFL look like a bunch of lawless idiots. I bet he gets a couple games off at least for this.

Considering this guys track record he better have some good proof that he is innocent. He will need the girl to be not credible etc. Or maybe have a witness?

You would be surprised by how many people fail to appear for their court dates, and if he's the only NFL player to do that this year, then the NFL is way ahead of the curve. It's unfortunate that it's so common, but it is still incredibly prevalent.

You are talking to someone who worked 4 years at the LA public defenders office. I doubt anything you could come up with would surprise me. I've interviewed 12 year old murderers. And actually Judges get very upset when you don't show up for court.

Yes he may be innocent, but Pacman hasn't been convicted either.

Yes, they do. If Terry can get back into court before getting picked up he may be able to take care of it without any jail time. But he's in the news and I'm sure that doesn't sit well with the commish.

It appears Chris Terry is fitting right in with the Chiefs.
