Default The Renault Logan Car, Eur 5000 (USD 6105)

Not available here apparently. Seems to have average safety ratings, high gas mileage I'm sure. Can the U.S. automakers get innovative enough to offer these type of cars under $10,000?

-------------------------------------------------------------
Renault Logan
The super budget Renault / Dacia Logan Car

The Renault Logan is the latest car to enter the super budget automobiles, and will compete with the best of the world’s cheapest cars.

People stuck between a rock and a tough spot in the car market may just be saved by Renault’s new heavily revised company, the Romanian firm, Dacia. For the small sum of Eur 5000 (USD 6105), the reliability and peace of mind of a new car can be had: this is the Renault Dacia Logan car.

Only if they're made in China

I remember those Alliances & Encores they sold in the US in the 80's... you couldn't include 'reliability' in the same conversation as Renault...

They have cars like that all over Korea. They're like death traps in an accident because the walls are paper-machete.

Did you read the crash ratings on this car?

Ford, Volkswagen, Chevrolet and maybe Peugeot as of lately. (I'm not a big fan of Peugeot, they have made some pretty terrible cars in the past... but the 206 is a very good, affordable car)

I'm a Ford guy; my father owns a Chevrolet Corsa, and it's a pretty good car.

I'd always go with a Ford, but if that wasn't an option I'd buy a Volkswagen or a Chevy after that.

BMW's and Mercedes Benz are quite popular in the most wealthy districts of Buenos Aires.

I've been through a lot with Ford cars and they never let me down. One way or the other, they always seem to get you home.

I own a 94 Ford Escort (prolly not the one you guys know) and a 92 Ford Sierra, and they are both amazing cars. The Sierra is such a joy to ride. They are probably the last tough, really well built cars Ford has made.
Not to mention that older Ford's (Falcon; Taunus) were almost indestructible... you could probably crash a Falcon into Spidey's truck and I bet the truck would receive most of the damage.

Here's the Ford Sierra:

Yeah, I love older cars. They were build to last a lifetime.

My friends brother bought one as his 1st car out of HS when he went off to start his Insurance career. I think the career went down the toilet & the car tanked with-in 3 years. Could not find anyone to fix it or buy it, both the car & his insurance.

Wonder if the same guy still has his parachute pants!

I've never seen the Ford Sierra or Taunus before, I don't think they are sold up here. So the Sierra is a large car?

Yep, the Sierra is a very large car; very spacious and comfortable. One of my favorite cars, no doubt. You could probably buy one today with 200.000 miles on it and drive it for the next 25 years.
They stopped making them 12 years ago though, and I don't think they ever made it to the US.

The Taunus is even older, and a classic. Here's a pic, I had the exact same model:

That Taunus is pretty cool looking, better than most Ford models up here in those days! What does petro cost you down there?

We don't have to Beerslug. The thinking is we will get the rest of the world IE India/Europe/China/Russia to drive really small crappy cars so we can enjoy the big cars we are accustomed to. You just don't get being American at all. It's cool though because we will also need a certian amount of people like you to buy stupid energy efficent cars, that way there will be enough gas for me and my big v-8. I'm thinking about buying the SRT-8 Chrysler 300c with a 6.1 hemi. How do you like dem apples?

Some of "us" have to compensate for other "shortages" by driving large vehicles!

Any man who thinks that powerful automobiles are only to overcome a small penis, probably have a small penis or can't afford a powerful automobile. Some of us enjoy the experience of driving a superior vehicle. Or maybe you just like the room to stretch out your legs so you get a really nice SUV. There are 1.1 billion Indians and even more Chinese so I doubt my car will matter all that much.

1 liter equals about .23 gallons or 1 gallon equals about 4 liters. 20 dollars puts about a 1/3 of a tank in my truck

So how much do you pay to fill the tank of a regular car?

Smaller cars have around 13 gallon sized tanks and gas is averaging around $2.80 a gallon right now.

About 36 dollars? That's pretty high. Gas prices went up lately in the US, right? Seems to me they were lower when I visited. (about 3 years ago)

Gas prices have been constant for a few years here in Argentina, thankfully.

I enjoy mine, sort of a necessary evil

last trip to the gasoline station ran me just under $50...

I'm just glad I don't have to worry about paying for fuel in my work truck... last time was about 120 galons of diesel, ran right around $345 on my company's dime
