I know our primary concern is with the Broncs, but being a draft nik, the possibilities for the Lions draft are interesting.
I was talking about this with my Dad today. If Detroit plays theri cards right they could get a bunch of picks. Here's how they might cash in: 1. Oakland selects J. Russell. If they take C Johnson my plan is blown to bits. 2. Detroit trades with Tampa to #4. Tampa is dying to get Calvin Johnson. Because they are desperate Detroit should get more than just one pick. By looking at the Value Chart, moving down those two spots should equal getting Tampa's first, second, and third pick. (#2 is 2,600. #4, 36, and 68 are 1,800+540+250=2590. 3. Cleveland takes Brady Quinn. 4. Arizona is dying to draft Joe Thomas. Detroit tells them they will take Thomas unless Arizona swaps with them. To move up to #4 the Cards send Detroit their 3rd or 4th round pick. Detroit may be able to get the third because of the Cards desperation to protect Leinart. This scenario would leave Detroit with one first (4), 2 seconds (34 & 36), and three thirds (66, 68, & 69.) Add to that the Lions two extra 5th rounders and the possibilities for the Lions are plentiful. They could trade down to #5 or so AND trade back into the first round for more impact players. With all the intrigue over the 2nd pick it's too bad a dolt like Millen is running the show..... |

I know they could have a ton of picks easily.

And look what they have done with high round picks in the Millen era. Either way they will F it up. Another case where having all the picks in the world will mean nothing.

Do not believe that TB is going to trade up for Johnson. I seriously doubt it happens despite the smokescreens out there. If anything, they trade back to acquire another pick themselves and draft one of the second tier WR's in the second or early third. This will almost be an exclusive Defensive draft for TB unless a huge offensive player drops into their laps.
