Default Kucinich: I am ready to introduce articles of Impeachment against Cheney

Articles of Impeachment To Be Filed On Cheney
Looks like he's reached his boiling point.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), the most liberal of the Democratic presidential candidates in the primary field, declared in a letter sent to his Democratic House colleagues this morning that he plans to file articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney.

Kucinich has made ending the war in Iraq the central theme of his campaign. He has even taken aim at the leading Democratic presidential candidates in the field for their votes on authorizing the war.

Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution gives Congress the authority to impeach the president, vice president and "all civil Officers of the United States" for "treason, bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."

Sources tell the Sleuth that in light of the mass killings at Virginia Tech Monday, Kucinich's impeachment plans have been put on hold. There will be no action this week, they say.

Kucinich's office had no comment on the Congressman's "Dear Colleague" letter -- which apparently was drafted over the weekend, before the school massacre -- or on what the focus of articles of impeachment against Cheney would be.

But Kucinich shouldn't hold his breath on getting anywhere with his impeachment plan. "We'll see a Kucinich Administration before we'll see a Cheney impeachment," quipped one Democratic aide.

Here is the text of his letter, a copy of which was forwarded to the Sleuth:

April 17, 2007

Dear Colleague:

This week I intend to introduce Articles of Impeachment with respect to the conduct of Vice President Cheney. Please have your staff contact my office . . . if you would like to receive a confidential copy of the document prior to its introduction in the House.

Sincerely,

/s/

Dennis J. Kucinich

Member of Congress

Suddenly, I had a vision of Bilbo Baggins in the caverns of the Lonely Mountain, trading barbs with Smaug.

And a horrible image of Cheney dressed only in a loincloth hissing

I doubt most Democrats are that interested in getting rid of Bush or
Cheney. As BushChenCo continues to pile up screw-up after screw-up
it just further enhances the Democrats chances of retaining Congress
and taking back the White House in 2008. BushChenCo is the best
recruiting tool the Democrats have in getting new voters.

Should be interesting. The "Bush Lied People Died" crowd may soon get their day in court. I'm looking forward to it. It's about time the issue was settled legally instead of by mud-slinging and accusations.

Get rid of hillary as a potential democratic candidate, and you have a shot. She takes the primary, it's lights out for the dems...dman

Yep, no different than the duke lacross boys, mudslinging, accusations and convicted by the press/college/black leaders. I would have loved to been a fly on the wall when the AG for North Carolina announced INNOCENT on national TV. Wonder what ole JJ and Big Al sharp as a roundstone had to say about that one. Hilarious...dman

Unless the Republicans field McCain as their candidate. That would
guarantee a Clinton win. Especially if Clinton picks Obama as VP.

Not really. Just pointing out how such 'tactics' can blow up in your face. And if you don't have the guts to apologize for your screwup, you look even worse. I'll be interested to see what hard, undisputed "evidence" they really come up with to attempt to impeach the VP. In any case, the dems will have a ball with this one, right or wrong, I'm guessing they'll believe mission accomplished. But rest assured, he'll walk, unscathed short of the media's coviction in the press...dman

If they can get him..go for it. But at some point congress is going to have to address the honest needs in this country and not playing pure politics.

Well they've met their 100 hour agenda, so it's open season on this sort of thing. They can put 'honest needs' aside for a while to accomodate a little target practice, and take trips to the carribean I might add. I see the direction.....dman

There was more evidence and reason to try Bill Clinton with treason considering he helped build China's military giving them our satelitte technology among other things for campaign money. It is really hilarious anyone who is a democrat and planning to vote for Hillary and trying to come up with even one reason other than she's a democrat for the support.

that's nothing. she was sauntering about a few stops wanting the vote because she is a 'woman'. Freaking hilarious. That reason alone will cause me to vote against her...dman
