I will finally make my way to Invescofor the December 9th game against KC thanks to Dipso from the boards.

To make a long story short, he offered me a ticket! I thought of a way to ask my wife for two days

Let's just say the conversation ended like this. I was a Broncos fan before I met you, I'm going! I slept on the couch that night

In the morning she told me to have fun, and she was sorry.

So Meck! it's time to finally meet my man. All the others on the board I have spoke with, I'll see you there. I can't wait!

Everyone is probably thinking "What good will it do?".... BUT...What can it hurt? Why not give it the good fight. Who knows what can happen if we all fight together?

I left a message as soon as he posted that here. He's been talking about possibly needing some help and waiting for the right time since the beginning of the season. I feel bad for Meck. It's not right for the city/state to take away his dream.

Well this is the time dude. There is a good chance that this season is the last for tailgating for me if I can't even park the bus on my corner. I'd love to keep hosting guys like AZ and his group in the future but there is only so much I can do and fight on my own.

I realize everyone has their own set of problems in life and I have mine but I've always felt OF1 was more than just me. Thousands of people have come thru the bus and the tailgates over the years. I need these politicians to know this just isn't about one guy losing some land so they can build a starbucks or whatever on my corner. It was supposed to be a Broncos fan corner.

People keep telling me "Steve you can't win". I'm not trying to win. I'm trying to reason with them.

Why are we Americans programmed to think we are powerless against our own government? Everyone I talk to says that to me. I still have some faith in the system but I can't do it alone.

I actually told this to several people on the site. When I bought the place I considered offering up shares in the building as I did fear I could lose it to someone who wanted it. It's that unique of a spot. I was right. I had no idea it would be the light rail though as I went to the planning meetings for two years but in my gut I felt somebody out there would try and take it.

I believe I expressed that scenario to Taco John as he knew of my future plans for the building.

It would have been much harder for the government to take the building/parking lot away from lets say 100 Broncos fans as opposed to just me.

Sounds like you've been getting some good input as well Meck. I've seen a few good suggestions such as verifying the funds appropriation was for the entire parcel as opposed to a small (40 sqft/3 ft line) portion of it. Again, the biggest problem I have is that they don't compensate for the unrealized potential of the land. You bought it for a reason (and a very good one I might add) and it was for fellow Bronco Fans to have a place to gather and have fun. Sure there is financial gain in it for you but I believe (truly) that you do it more for our fanship and your fanship than you do for the financial gain. Hopefully a lot more people understand that and help support this cause. It's not about saving "Meck" financially, it's about saving a fan that has always shared everything so that fellow fans could have a good time. You know you have my support. I'll do everything I possibly can... save for picketting... can't see myself being that guy!

Exactly right! There was only one ticket, so she was pissed! Second the thought of me having crazy fun without her doesn't sit to well. You see it's been a longtime since I've been to a game, and she knows me better than I know myself! Enough said, the reason I selpt on the couch.
