Okay, I have Lion season tickets I have tried to post sites from Yahoo with Hotels in the area...some are downtown, some are in the northern subburbs about 20 minute car ride...

I live in Madison Heights, one of the links has hotels in that area...

http://local.yahoo.com/results;_ylt=...=dd-local-more

as for tailgating, I will do the best I can, I normally tailgate in a private lot or when I go with my dad we go out and eat...

I will check with the guy about if we can get more cars in the lot...if not I will look into the Eastern Market http://detroittailgate.com/Maps/EasternMarket.html

and see if we can get in there...

if anybody is coming in for the game let me know what i can do to help

fficeffice" />from Lion website for 2006 season

Parking facilities adjacent to Ford Field and Comerica Park are reserved lots for Suite and Club Seat Holders, as well as guests with disabilities. There are numerous parking lots surrounding Ford Field that operate public parking on a first come, first serve basis. Access to parking facilities is generally three hours prior to kick-off. Vehicles will be directed into spaces and reserving spaces is not allowed. Tailgating and re-entry access is prohibited in parking facilities adjacent to Ford Field. However, tailgating is permitted in the Eastern Market area and other areas outside the Central Business District.

The taxicab drop-off and pick-up staging area is located on Adams Street, between Witherell and John R. All taxicabs are asked to drop off and pick up in this reserved area

The shuttle van and mini bus staging area is located on Adams Street, between Witherell and John R. Shuttles may drop off and pick up their guests in this area. This is strictly a staging area, not a parking area. Drop offs will begin two hours before game time. Staging for pick ups will begin at the start of the fourth quarter. Please contact area venues for their shuttle service availability.

CITY OF DETROIT OFFERS ADVANCED TAILGATING
RESERVATIONS FOR THE LIONS REGULAR SEASON

The City of Detroit Municipal Parking Department invites Detroit Lions fans to take advantage of the advanced ticket sales for tailgating at the Eastern Market to ensure a spot at Detroit’s premiere tailgating venue in the area. The Eastern Market has more than 400 tailgating spaces available for individuals and groups.

Tailgating will be allowed four hours prior to the game and up to two hours following the game. Cost per tailgating space will be $30. Vehicles, including buses and other large recreational vehicles and personal property, that require more than one parking space will be charged accordingly. Reservations for the regular season games can be made by contacting the Municipal Parking Department at (313) 967-1629, or by downloading the package form. There will be no tailgating for the Detroit Lions’ pre-season games.

The Eastern Market is a secure, well-maintained area with portable restroom accommodations. For additional convenience, a shuttle service will be available to transport fans to and from Ford Field approximately every 10 minutes beginning two hours prior to game time. Fare for the service is $ 1.00 each way. Passengers will be able to board at the corner of Russell and Wilkins. Regular parking is available at the Eastern Market Garage for $10.

I'll be there. My dad is a Lions fan and we only live 3 hours away. Likely won't do much more than a walk by at the tailgate, but I'll make an appearance for sure.

We'll probably make this game also. Any places to park the RV the night before Dendave?

As in, where you can park it and sleep in it over night and start tailgating the next morning, or park it and sleep in it and move it in the morning, or park it and spend the night in somewhere like a hotel?

I would prefer to park it and start tailgating at the same place but would be surprised if anything like that is available. 2nd choice would be to park and stay in RV at nite and then move to tailgate spot next morning.

DenDave, I know tickets shouldn't be a problem for this one, but do you know any other season ticket holders that sell their seats? I'm looking for something better than Upper Deck.

BTW, Ford Field is a really nice stadium to take in a game. Except for that annoying singer and his band whenever the Lions score!

individual tix will be on sale coming up in the spring (no date yet). face is listed at $40. There won't be many but they are attainable. I'm gonna take my chances w/ those. I don't really care where I sit for this one. If I can't land face, I'll do ebay or the hub late summer.

Ford Museum. I always remember that as one of the coolest Museums in the country. DenDave do you have anything else that we need to put on our list to see in Detroit?

The "Ford" museum you refer to also has "Greenfield Village", it's a look into the past...As for things to see...depends what you mean, there is nothing in Downtown Detroit I would recomend unless you like art, we have the DIA and it is pretty good...we do have one of the most upscale malls in the country, it's about 20 miles outside the city, it's called Somerset Collection, it is where all the "famous" people shop when they are in town...other than that we do have 3 casinos downtown, if that is your thing...We do have a great music scene, depends on your taste. There is something for everyone, almost every night of the week. We have great restaurants, whether in the city of in the "burbs". Give me more of an idea of what you are looking for and I will help the best I can, I guess when you live somewhere, you forget what out of towners might want to see and do, because we take it for granted...

The tickets go on sale on Ticket Master on August 31st at 8am MST.. Den Dave does the stadium sell out often? It would be suprising if they did.

Actually they have sold out every game since they moved to Ford Field...football in Michigan is huge...whether good or bad they like to "party" and the game is secondary
