Browns move for Green rumor
The Browns are apparently ready to step up their pursuit of Chiefs quarterback Trent Green.
Browns General Manager Phil Savage told WTAM AM/1100 on Thursday morning that the next step is to negotiate a "ballpark contract" for Green that would prompt him to want to come to Cleveland for a visit.
Green's agent, Jim Steiner, declined to comment Thursday night on possible negotiations - but also didn't deny that they've begun.
If this happens they won't be going QB in the draft right? You wonder if that means Adrian Peterson? What are the varying opinions in here if the Browns bring in Green. Do you all think that means no QB in draft?

I definitely think this means no QB... if they just wanted to let their draftee sit for a year, Fry is serviceable. I can't see them bringing in Green to bring along a drafteee. And it's probably not an emergency backup type situation, there's not many players going ahead of them so it's VERY likely that if they wanted a QB one would fall. I don't see the big two going #1 and #2 so they'd have a QB if that's what they wanted.
That being said, I still think they would benefit more from linemen than another RB. Droughns didn't string together a few 1000 yd seasons and then decide to just slack off. Their line went down the crapper.

Crenell needs to start winning to save his job. Trent Green is 37. I don't see any way this prevents them from taking a QB (i.e. Brady Quinn) if they want to though.
For the Browns I think its still a toss up between Quinn, Peterson, and an outside chance at taking Calvin Johnson.
