Default Troublesome Beaking News!

According to Google news, two more carriers reported seen headed for middle east, apparently to Straights of Hormuz. Expect feathers to fly now, mates! Think seriously about your stock portfolio come Monday AM.

The funniest thing is we DO have a carrier that has moved closer to their waters. And yes, they carry nukes. We don't need no stinkin' second carrier anyway. Let's see them try to take Americans hostage. I can just about bet it's the new Ronald McDonald carrier out there.

Oh, this was just a gut buster. I can't think of anything funnier than reporting we're going to war with yet another country.

Dropping Bombs on Iran

The conspiracy theorists will pick up on the news out of San Diego that the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier battle group will sail Monday for the Persian Gulf as meaning WAR with Iran.
A third aircraft carrier does sound provocative and scary, especially during yet another hostage-taking and stand-off, with the continuing WMD dispute, Iran's supposed meddling in Iraq, and not to mention the county's religious and anti-Israel posturing.
And there is no question that Iran has not so slowly taken on the mantle of favorite enemy to many in Washington, even to the geopolitically challenged who seem content, even desperate, to join the neocons in blithely referring to war there as more justified than Iraq.............................................. .......................... etc.

actually, another carrier did recently take off for the middle east. We have record numbers there right now (7 I think) with another leaving in the next 3 months. These were scheduled way before Iran abducted the brits, just a coincidence in the cycle. It will be back to the normal 4-6 soon.

Ok, so we could continually have 100 F-18's and a few F-22's in the air continually.

Did I mention Curtis LeMay was my hero?

The F-22 is an AF plane. It doesn't have the frame to land on a carrier, not to mention the fact that it doesn't have a tail hook.

We have two there (USS John C. Stennis and the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower) and no plans for any others going there at the moment.

I was wondering about that. I had heard the Eisenhower was there but didn't know about the Stennis. Nimitz makes three. Jeeeez. That's a hell of a lot of firepower in one spot.

Maybe the US could revive the bat bombs they were going to use on Japan in WW2.
