I used the player rankings at foxsports to guide my selections. I couldn't draft a player at number that exceeded his ranking (eg. I couldn't select a top 20 ranked player at 21). I also prefer not to predict trades. Here it is....
21. Justin Harrell, DT, Tennessee 56. Jason Hill, WR, Washington State 70. Josh Gattis, FS, Wake Forest 86. Dan Bazuin, DE, Central Michigan 176. Brandon Frye, OT, Virginia Tech 233. Anthony Waters, LB, Clemson |

I really like this draft. I LOVE the Harrell pick and i also like Hill a lot. Bazurin is a great high motor guy also. Gattis, again nice pick. Really nice job, now if only the real thing turns out like this

Not bad, I'd prefer this though, going by their rankings:
21. Justin Harrell 56. Victor Abiamiri 70. James Marten 86. Antonio Johnson 161. John Wendling 183. Chris Henry 214. Legedu Naanee They have Weddle at 70, Wendling at 161, either or really. Interesting chart though, they've got some of the athletic LBs really bumped up there, like Barnes, Durant, and DeOssie. Also, I think these are actually Denver's picks, with the 6th likely to return from Miami due to the failed Wilkinson trade. |

If we could get Waters in the 6th or 7th, it'd be the steal of the draft. Had he not missed his senior season with an injury, he'd easily have been a first day pick, possibly a low first rounder.

Either way, I think its becoming the consensus around here that we'd all be happy with Harrell. This team needs a DT badly. Having signed Stokley I'm not sure if I'd really care to go WR on the first day. We have Smith and Marshall vying for #2, the loser of that and Stokley can battle for #3, with Hixon and Kircus offering some interesting competition as well. We're carrying some good WR talent on the roster already. We do need some youth at DE, I'm not sure if I'd be happy with just Bazuin, especially since they have Abiamiri sliding past our 2nd. I think he could step in and play in Bates' system day one. Abiamiri and Bazuin though? That'd be great. I like Gattis, though I think their safety ratings are pretty crap. They have Weddle available at 70, which won't happen, and they have Wendling going in the second day. I'm just hoping for one of Griffith, Nelson, Merriweather, Gattis, Weddle, Piscatelli, or Wendling. A safety who can actually has the athleticism to cover someone, I don't care what round we take them in. Good second day, I think they're underselling Waters, despite his injury. Weak LB class, the more talented ones will surprise people with how high they go. |

I used Fox a bunch with mine as well.
1. Jarvis Moss, DE, Florida 2. Eric Weddle, S, Utah 3a. Brandon Mebane, DT, California 3b. Paul Soliai, DT, Utah 6a. Brandon Frye, OT, Va Tech 6b. Matt Tranon, WR, MI. State 7. Matt Muncy, LB, Ohio If the Broncs don't move around this is how I see it. They take the approach from two years ago when they drafted 3 CB in the first three picks. Moss and Mebane can probably move into the starting rotation right away. Soliai is a space eater that Bates loves. This makes the eight man rotation Moss/Lang/Ekuban/Dumervil at DE and Mebane/Soliai/Warren/ and either Veal or McKinley at DT. Weddle is high character and high motor. An over achiever that will give an immediate special teams impact. May also turn into a leader on the field. Brandon Frye is a project who will sit for a year while he learns the game. Is quick and athletic enough to play in the Broncos system Trannon has the height that Shanny loves, and was productive at MSU. Muncy is a project who is fast and can contribute on special teams. (4.58 40 time, listed at nfldraftscout.com) I know Denver usually takes a RB, but two RBs were picked up via free agency, Bell is still on the roster, Cobbs is as well, and Sapp will be playing more tailback. In this projection Denver sees if Selvin Young went undrafted, and picks up some Guard/Center type free agents. |
