in the sunday night game when LT was matched up against one of the linemen and caught a pass and ran to the end zone, Bailey was right behind him but he just gave up, could he have caught LT or was Lt too fast or maybe there wasn't enough room to catch him
around the 3:55 mark if you can wait http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1b5A8VYi-M0 Last edited by dragondawg; 03-26-2007 at 04:37 AM.. |

No one is catching LT from behind if he has even a little space on you. He really is that fast. I doubt Bailey gave up but a video of the play would be nice if you expect accurate opinions. I remember that play but I don't have a photographic memory. I don't remember thinking Bailey gave up though.

yeah I sortof remember the play. Bailey was directly behind him, so even if we say they're equally fast, which I doubt, Bailey had no chance of catching up to LT.

He was too close to the goal line and Champ was not that close. Would never have caught him.
Now I will take champ in a 40 yard race between the 2. |

Your are not gettin LT from behind. That man is explosive. But I'd Bailey straight up in a race.

Anyone think it was "low class" to have LT in the 49er game with 4.22 minutes, in the 4th and a 22 point lead?
As for Champ pulling up. He wasn't the only one that gave up that game.....thankfully Coyer is gone and we won't have to see a DE covering a RB ever again. |

He was behind by around 5 yards. LT was already at top speed no way anyone could catch him in a 30 yd sprint with those conditions.

Champ wasn't the only one who gave up in the 2nd half that game.

Ahem!
![]() Face it, Champ gave up big time on that play. And sadly, he gives up a lot. Remember when he use to "slip" after getting beat deep? Like that was the only way Champ could give up a big play. Last edited by GonzoLays; 03-26-2007 at 01:27 PM.. |

tomlinson has an elite burst but in a 40, 50, 60 yard dash there are many faster including bailey.

lt was already at top speed and with only 20 yards to go there is no way bailey was going to catch him. with another 50 yards to go its a possibility...

it would have been nice for him to leave it all out on the field...but bailey isnt that type of player...just makes you appreciate a Rod Smith that much more cuz he would have sprinted the entire length of the field, knowing hes not going to catch him

Bailey can out run LT in a 40, but I don't think he had any chance of catching Tomlinson there. LT was at top Gear and Bailey had just turned around when he saw who was already too many steps ahead for much to matter.

On a track with no pads on. The difference between 4.4 and 4.3 is minimal and game speed isn't measured by the 40. I have had the pleasure to watch LT live and he is CLEARLY the fastest player on the field.

Champ is fast but no way he get's to LT to stop the score although I guess he could have met him in the endzone and given him five

Maybe not but aren't you suppose to keep playing until the whistle? It wouldn't be the first time a player lost the ball (if he had dropped it) before getting into the endzone.

If you want to see a CB giving up on a play I suggest Deltha laying down against NE in the closing minute.
Another is Foster. Another Tater Tumble Toss. Das Furher will pull the trigger on players that give up. I'm not sure which play your talking about honestly. One long ply I saw Champ had to run thru a blocker that as 15 yards ahead of him and let up. Don Beebee should get a HOF vote for making Leon Lett a fool yet again. Unfortuanately, Denver signed him. That was a bonanza. |

I don't doubt that LT is fast, I also don't doubt that any fast player in the NFL can out run any other on their respective good and bad days. They are both very fast, if I had to pick one, I would say Champ, Corners are usually a good bit faster. I remember D. Hall proving he was a step and a half faster than Steve smith in some NFL challenge thing last year. I also remember Champ being burned by Chad Johnson, and then proceed to make up 30 yards of distance before Chad could get up and walk into the endzone 10 yards away.

No chance. LT was at full speed Bailey was 3 yards behind, and off balance at a stand still after changing directions. When LT catches the ball, Bailey is going towrds the LOS. No chance, None, nada, zip, zilch.

Champ giving up is beyod comical. Did you want to see a perfunctory jog behind TD or see him rip a hammy in a futile attempt.
Even with the ball and being worked like a rented mule, LT has freakish speed. Right now he's the Tiger Woods of running backs. I'm amused Marty managed to screw it up yet again...almost comical. How many 13-3 one and outs will Marty endure? OK, we dumped the Pitt game, but they came to play and Jake didn't. If he had played worth a crap, we wouldn't of heard Jay's name on draft day, period.
