doesnt mean deal is done but if the giants like what they see then talks will heat up
Wilson in New York for physical Posted by Mike Garafolo March 23, 2007 1:35PM Categories: Trades Broncos LB Al Wilson is in New York this afternoon for a physical being conducted by Giants team doctors, according to a league source. It's unclear if this means a trade will be finalized today, but it's a pretty good indication the Giants are ahead of any other team interested in acquiring the linebacker. Clearly, the Giants want to take a look at some of Wilson's recent nicks and injuries. He's had a lingering thumb injury and jammed his neck in a game against the Seahawks this past December. If the Giants like what they see in Wilson's physical, they'll probably hit the gas on the trade talks with Denver. The Denver Post is reporting Wilson's physical means he will be a Giant today. http://blog.nj.com/ledgergiants/ |

the only thing about trading Wilson that scares me is
Williams at MLB & then the candidates that could replace him |

If they get what they were talking about I can't say that I would be that excited about it. Hoping this is just another step in what they were trying to accomplish in this years draft.

I love Shanahan! What other teams fans have half the fun we do in the offseason? What the heck do you think the Chiefs are talking about, all they can possibley do with their 7th rounder? I love it! If the trade does go down, kinda sucks its with the Giants. I liked Wilson.

Let's hope they get good value for Wilson since the only way this trade doesn't happen now is if Wilson fails the physical.

I'm trying to figure out what is it the Giants have that Shanny wants? Umenyiora? Kiwinuka? Pick(s)?

I would vomit with rage if the deal is for Tuck and his Lisfranc, swap firsts for a lousy move up to 20th and a 4th rounder.
Yuck. ![]() |

Wasn't he in Detroit last night too? Anyway, I think this is more of a "let's check out the goods" thing than a "let's close the deal on this" thing.

We better, but if its the crap posted on this stupid blog before, Tuck, a 4th, and swapping 1sts, I'll be pretty damn disappointed. Thats a mile away from what we should get for Wilson. Giving Tuck any value at all after having a major injury last year and never doing anything on the field prior is just stupid.
Not necessarily, its very possible the two teams are a ways apart still and the Giants want a physical before they negotiate further. |

Was he in Detriot last night? I missed that discussion. I wrote Detroit off as a dead issue.

I'm just clueless who we want. Justin Tuck and a 2nd? 3rd? I really dont want Justin Tuck, Osi would be better, but he's not going any where.

Osi in orange & blue would kinda take the sting out of losing Al... Like Fontaine, I'm hoping to god Tuck isn't remotely part of the deal in question

Man it'll be sad to see big Al in another uniform. However with the Eagles, Lions, and Giants all interested I hope there is a nice bidding war out there and the Broncos get one hell of a package. It might just help the sting a little bit.

What would everyone consider a fair trade? I would expect their first round pick and a second or third.

Where did you hear that? If so I still have hope that the FO isn't going to make Shanahan's first bone head trade and give Wilson away for a busted DE and a 4th round pick.

Hmmm
Maybe something like this in the works? Broncos send Wilson, #1 (#21 overall), and one of our extra 3rds to NYG. NYG sends Wilson, their #1 (#20 overall) to Detroit. Detroit sends their #1 (#2 overall) to Denver. NYG would only move down 1 spot to pick up an extra 1st day draft pick for playing middle man. DET gets a pro-bowl LB and still has a 1st round pick - low enough in the round that Millen wont get too much scrutiny for any pick he makes (lol) Denver gets the #2 overall They could take Johnson, or Wilson - Adams or other DL would be a bit of a reach at this spot but Cards covet Wilson and there is a chance Browns could take him #3 overall so Broncos could trade that #2 pick to AZ for their #5 and a 2nd or 3rd rounder. Take a DL with that #5 overall and have an extra 1st day pick Sure, Detroit gets somewhat fleeced in this deal - but Millen has been thru worse than getting Al Wilson - a proven leader who can still play at a pro-bowl level. Doubt it all goes down like this we probably are dumping Wilson for a 4th round pick or something lame. :-( |
