The Denver Broncos cut defensive end Courtney Brown after the former No. 1 overall pick failed his physical. It was inevitable. I'm guessing his career is probably over. Poor guy, the injuries got the best of him. |

Just strange. He wasn't injury prone in college and he couldn't stay healthy to save his life in the pros. Some guys just wear down, I guess.

Not surprising, but this should free up a couple mil of cap space, right?

He was pretty good in 05 when healthy. What a shame.

Guess this means we go DE with one of the first two picks?

With our offseason signings, there isn't any room for an injury-prone Brown. Good luck with whatever he decides to do with the rest of his life...

I doubt there are any savings. Last year, Courtney agreed to a deal (over the objections of his agent) that was very, very team-friendly. He seems like a really great guy and a team-first guy, it was very sad to see him constantly beset by injuries. I wish him all the best in his future.

One wonders what would have happen had he been drafted by a team that knew what they were doing.

This of course pretty much necessitates a DE in the draft if for nothing else than depth.

Good luck to Courtney. Class guy who couldn't buy a break in terms of injuries. He would be a great guy to bring on as a "special assistant" and develop into a coach.

He'll be sorely missed. The run D was a shadow of itself last year without him and Pryce.

Hey, was Courtney the one who pushed a ref in Cleveland, when the ref threw the beanbag that hit him in the eye?

Wow, I'm surprised people are so sentimental about this guy. I have no idea if he's a nice guy or not he didn't get much run in the local media. Beyond that he couldn't get on the field enough so time to move on. I know I wasn't counting on him to contribute much next season.

He had a decent season with us in 2005/06 and was very solid against the run. We were No2 or No3 in the league that year. |

Bad luck for a good guy. I was hoping he'd make it back. He certainly played a role in the run to the AFC championship.

In college he was about 265, then bulked up to 290 in the pros. I always wondered if that extra weight isn't what hurt him.

This doesn't change anything (ie real cap space/draft strategy), this was a formality. I honestly dont think he was ever in the plans

I wished he could have regained his health. Would have been nice to see what he was really capable of doing. Good luck CB.
