I have a bunch of old videos with some pretty good stuff on them. Want is my easiest or cheapest route to digitize them. I would love to get them to my computer without having to get another damn camera. Is there some kind of deck I could get my hands on that isn't a million dollars? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help. |

if these tapes can be played in a vcr, you can get a video capture card with a coaxial connection for less than 30 bucks.

There are cheap PC capture cards that have composite inputs. Your camera should have a composite output.
For a reasonable fee, there are people that can digitize video for you in high quality with high end equipment ![]() |

I used to do that but I don't have the camera anymore...I should have made that more clear. Thats what has me in this bind.

I wouldn't have a problem with having some place do it but...there are a **** ton of tapes. I think it would cost a fortune to outsource.

Should be somewhere that you could rent a camera. That, or there are sometimes cartridges the size of VHS tapes that you can place a tinie tape into and they will play in a VCR.

Not sure....Are they HI8 or miniDV? Either way you try you'll need a camera or tape deck that plays them. Your best method is capture via the firewire port on the camera itself...I have tried many capture cards and audio/video sync issues always creep in, with cards. with direct FW capture that is eliminated....as long as you don't edit too much.
Other than that,a capture to a DVD burner...(standalone..no computer) and just burn them to DVD. You still need the camera or a deck... Check your local craigs list....or E-bay. |

I know Walmart charges like 20 bucks a tape to have them made to DVD...
