That's cool, I guess. I think the problem with our return game wasn't the returner though. I think it was the entire Special Teams unit during returns. I think a quality Special Teams Coach was the appropriate upgrade.

Morgan is a good return man. It's a good signing just in case Hixon isn't ready.

I wonder if this signing means Hixon is being viewed as more of a WR and less of a returner? I had forgotten that Hixon was supposed to be really good at it.

I thought Morgan was older...he's like 29. I alway have to get the fingers and toes out with birthdates. He's marginal, but an emergency WR...we have WR's. We were really thin at RB with Tater traded and Nash passing.

I thought he was like 34 or 5.

I think Denver has confidence that Morgan can play wr if needed. While Hixon they see as more the pure return man. Morgan I think is a solid number 4 and could probably be a number 3 in a pinch.

I honestly think we will see alot of 2 TE with Scheff motioning to the slot at times. Both Scheff and Graham can catch so it's decieving in that article about thin at reciever.

Morgan is certainly a capable WR...he had 964 yards and 7 TDs in '02 on a dismal Cleveland team. Surely he could step as a #3/#4 for us if needed...

I like the resigning....solid role player, special teams guy, and emergency WR.

Just another piece to the 2007 puzzle. Now need another fat guy for the D-line and then the draft.

Even before reading this I've had this weird feeling that Hixon will end up getting cut. Don't know why though.

I don't think there is anything wrong with having a KR and PR players on the team. It looks like we'll have a lot of depth at WR for a change.

Morgan returns kicks and Hixon is seen as the punt return guy, so re-signing Morgan doesn't necessarily mean anything about Hixon.

Emergency is right... he has earned a rep as a pass-dropping machine in his journey through the NFL

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner. Morgan has never returned punts, not even in college. Morgan has a 25.0 YPR career average. He averaged 24.9 YPR for us last year.

The only problem with our KO return game last year was Clark. Jeez he was bad.

I really like this re-signing.

Morgan started to give us some Hebron-esque returns last year.

I loved Vaughn Hebron!!

Well, you could be right, he hasn't shown anything. He could be a training camp cut.

Willie Middlebrooks syndrome...let's give him some time tho. They just took the screws out. Good grief tho...why the high pick?

Yeah. Since this a post O'Brien hiring then I think it's great. And O'Brien is on record as saying that he's specifically excited about Hixon.

This guy was good at KR before O'brien got here. He has always been ok what he does.

Morgan may not have ever returned punts, but Scott O'brien recently said that he thought Hixon could handle both, so there will definitely be some competition on kickoffs, and if Hixon turns out to be our return man they will look to get him on the field as often as possible.

I think the coaches see Morgan as good enough at WR to provide some depth there as well as being a backup return guy, but they are hoping that Hixon will be our number one return man.

Having said that I am confused about his (Hixon's) injury status - I knew he was on IR last year and thought he would b healthy for this offseason, but I seem to recall someone on this board saying he was injured again - can someone clarify??

Either way This is a soloid signing for roster depth and special teams at the very least

Why would there not be room for Hixon and Morgan?

Morgan has real NFL experience, Hixon has none. Hixon hasn't made it through a training camp yet, so he still has to compete and find his space. I would be happy seeing both fight for a #3 spot as well.

If Hixon isn't healed already, I don't see why they would even be mentioning him in the scheme. You usually don't leave spots open for guys who are injured for 2 seasons.

Hixon should be fine, I look forward to actually watching him run at game speed. That might make him a real valuable tool for Cutler as well. Maybe not the primary target, but very distracting to have a burner step in to the slot and drop the safeties a little bit.
